From Outstanding Employee or Young Business Leader, to Innovation, Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion, or New Business - There is a category for every business type and size.

Not sure where to get started, here are some tips on how to write a successful award entry: -

- Give yourself enough time: Ensure you have ample time to draft, review and make necessary changes to your entry. Consider having someone else review it for a fresh perspective.

- Focus on your message: Be clear and concise in your response. Addressing all aspects of the questions.

- Quantify the results: Reinforce your achievements by including relevant statistics, clearly demonstrating growth and success to the judges.

- Engage your team: Writing an award entry is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and reflect on the hard work and results achieved. A collaborative approach can bring fresh ideas and strengthen your submission.

- Read your entry out loud and proofread: Reading your entry out loud helps check the structure of your sentence and how someone else may read your entry. It is also a great tool for checking spelling mistakes and grammar.

The 2024 Regional Business awards are open and we encourage all Businesses on the Mid North Coast to enter! But why...?
Let's hear from Claire Matthews as to why it's a great idea!

"I loved the process of entering last year. It was the first time I have put myself forward for anything like it and so happy that I did. Entering outstanding employee really forced me to reflect on my career and it wasn't until I took time to put in words my achievements that I truly realised not only how much I have done over what has been a 30-year career in managed print services, but also the positive impact I have on people and their businesses. Winning both local and regional levels was an absolute honour and I am so proud to have been able to represent Colourworks, the Mid North Coast and myself in that category".

Claire Matthews, Colourworks Australia

It's a long weekend... a good time to start the process.

Business NSW is excited to announce the launch of the 2024 Business Awards for Mid North Coast. These awards are designed to celebrate and showcase the diverse array of business talent from right across Mid North Coast.

Entering your business is a rewarding experience. It allows you to reflect on the goals, strategies and vision that have contributed to your success, and the insights you gain will help drive the growth and sustainability of your business.

This year, the 2024 Business Awards feature 17 different categories, with each category awarded regionally. The Mid North Coast Regional Gala Awards will be held on 20th September. The theme for this year is "Fiercely Bold" reflecting courage, tenacity, and resilience of Businesses in the Mid North Coast region.

The regional winners will then compete against the best from across NSW State at the 2024 State Business Awards October.

These awards are open to all businesses from across Mid North Coast and we encourage every business to consider entering! Entries close 15th July. Click the link below to enter.

Yesterday we told you about our next event – the EOFY Economic Luncheon

Today, we want to tell you why it’s so important to attend…

Our Chief Economist at BNSW, Sherman Chan released her latest Business Conditions Survey. There was some compelling reading, namely that, following three consecutive quarters of increase, the Business Confidence Index has worsened to -59.7 for the June quarter (from a two-year high of -52.9 for the March quarter). Business confidence has remained deep in negative territory for more than three and a half years since September 2021.

The change follows limited small business relief in the Federal Budget and sticky inflation that dampens consumer purchasing power.

Regional Director for BNSW MNC, Kellon Beard says, “It is vital that the upcoming NSW State Budget helps bolster consumer and business confidence. Business NSW wholeheartedly supports Treasurer Mookhey and the NSW Government in taking the fight to Canberra to get NSW a fairer share of the GST."

So what’s concerning Business?
- Insurance
- Energy
- Taxes

Come and hear from Sherman and Pat Conaghan directly about the state of business in the Premier State, the challenges to overcome, and what to target in your business to achieve a prosperous outcome.

How did you read this year's Federal Budget...?
Do you feel optimistic about the next 12 months in Business?
Or are there some perpetuating concerns you need answers to and a voice to take your concerns to those who make decisions?

If so, then please join Federal MP for Cowper Pat Conaghan and Business NSW's Chief Economist Sherman Chan to provide an economic overview of the state and discuss the emerging issues that are impacting our small and medium businesses. This is your opportunity to have your economic and government questions answered and to provide feedback to your Federal Member of Parliament to take to Canberra.

Some of the issues they will be addressing are: -
* The rising costs of doing business in our region and their causes
* The effect of a tight labor market on local business
* The sources and impact of inflation
* The challenges facing agribusinesses
* The effects of the housing market shortages and it’s impacts on the labor market

This important Economic Update will be presented in both Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. The details and ticketing links are below.
