Hi Friends - so what's with the whole "Instagram tracks your Precise Location on iPhones" blowing up across the interwebs recently?!? 😳 Someone must've started this meme and it's been picked up and proliferated. Thing is, Precise Location is a setting in both iOS and Android and applies to *ALL* apps that use location data, not just Instagram!!! 📍

And, get this! Apple actually rolled out Precise Location in 2020 with iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7 then Google followed suit in Android 12.

Here's a helpful article clarifying the actual truth!

(Personally, I've turned off Precise Location in just about every app except Lyft and Maps).

To check your settings on iOS devices, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Then you literally have to go through each app in the list. To revoke Precise Location access on an app, tap it and toggle Precise Location to off.

Android varies by phone type. For some phones, it'll be under Settings > Location to view options.

A meme suggests a 'new' feature called 'Precise Location' is helping criminals stalk you on Instagram. But it's been around since iOS 14 and is not currently giving Insta stalkers a leg up.

💥 Important: Facebook and Instagram are dropping support for embedded content on WordPress sites starting October 24th. This means, if you have any embedded Facebook or Instagram content on your WordPress site, using the default oEmbed or Embed blocks feature, that content will BREAK and will no longer be properly visible. Boo!!! 😝👻😳

The API change is retroactive and has the potential to affect millions of sites.

To be specific, Facebook's API update removes support for unauthenticated embeds. Huh? 🤷🏼‍♀️ That means, embedded FB and IG content will ONLY be supported for publishers with a Facebook developer account and a registered Facebook app. Ugh.

🔑 Therefore, you'll need to implement a fix ASAP (before Oct 24th!).
