ARRB/NTRO is proud of its work with NACOE – our joint initiative with Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads – and sharing our research learnings.

Some fresh learnings on recycled materials in road building will be shared in a free webinar on Tuesday, September 19 from 11am AEST. Dr Javad Yaghoubi from ARRB/NTRO will present, and TMR’s Principal Engineer Peter Reynolds will be on hand for a Q&A session as part of the live webinar.

Opportunities to use waste materials in earthworks and drainage applications can be a huge help in getting the balance right between the demand for natural materials and aggregates, and the boom in road infrastructure “big builds”.

We’ll explore this in the free webinar tomorrow.

More information on the webinar, and registration details, can be found via the link below.

NACOE will hold a free webinar on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 11am AEST to discuss opportunities to use recycled materials in earthworks and drainage applications.

Austroads has prepared important guidance for the evaluation and reporting of automated vehicle trials. This guidance seeks to improve consistency in evaluation and reporting as an enabler and contributor to improved knowledge sharing across jurisdictions.

ARRB/NTRO’s David Green and Transoptim director Andrew Somers will present an Austroads webinar on Thursday, August 3, from 1pm AEST.

It will provide an overview of how the Austroads guidance was developed, and the guidelines themselves. It will assist those who may wish to apply the guidelines to evaluating and reporting their AV trials.

ARRB/NTRO has been the primary advisor on Connected and Automated Vehicle safety certification, vehicle licensing and insurance framework, training and technology development in Australia and New Zealand for nearly a decade.

We have worked on many CAV trials across a variety of use cases – truck automation, light vehicles, shuttles, and defence among them.

The Austroads webinar is free, but registration is essential.

If no changes are made to the current road trauma climate, the road toll is expected to rise by 2500 people over the next 10 years.

David McTiernan, National Discipline Lead - Transport Safety and Gavin Lennon, Senior Technology Leader, Safer Smarter Infrastructure, recently spoke with Roads and Infrastructure magazine about the importance of developing new technology and techniques to combat escalating road trauma statistics.

They speak about the 'no-blame' crash investigation method which looks at a broad range of factors that contribute to a crash including the road, vehicle, environment, driver and more.

It has officially been 12 months since ARRB, through NTRO’s Certification, commenced a role as Transport for NSW independent certifier of roughness measurement devices.

While the current service relates only to devices measuring roughness and is focused on NSW, discussions are now taking place regarding the establishment of calibration loops for devices measuring other road condition parameters and whether there is an appetite for working towards providing a wider network of such loops around Australia.
