Jack, Wes, and Sally (our ride to work master), joined in the festivities at South Melbourne Market on their way to the office (just a short ride away!)

We got a sneak peek of the new Twelve Apostles Visitor Experience Centre this week at the official unveiling on Wednesday.

A few years ago some lucky heritage consultants undertook fieldwork in this stunning location and we delivered a cultural heritage management plan (CHMP) for the development, which is located on the lands of the Eastern Maar people.

The centre will be open to the public from 16 October.

We were pleased to continue our annual sponsorship of the Combined Countries team to compete in this year's Koori Knockout.

The team performed well - finishing in the top half of the draw. The players represented the club with pride, determination, and plenty of heart in every game they played.

Congratulations to the Newcastle Yowies women's team and the Wiradjuri Aboriginal Rivers men's team on their titles 🏆

Starting out as Biosis’ first Research Assistant, Mark moved into the roles of Consultant and then Senior Consultant before becoming our first Team Leader.

Now, as Principal Zoologist, Mark is an integral member of our team and sought out by colleagues and clients for his sage advice and valuable guidance on projects.

We’re excited to be attending, sponsoring and presenting at this week’s PIA NSW State Conference in the Hunter Valley.

Keep an eye out for Claire Nunez, Crystal Garabedian, Mikhaila Chaplin and Mark Roberts; they're always keen for a chat! As Lunch Sponsor for the event the best time to catch the Biosis representatives will be the main breaks on each day of the conference.

On Thursday Claire and Crystal will be on stage for the panel discussion ‘Heritage, A Delicate Balance’. The panel will discuss how we consider community expectations and regulatory requirements when applying both legislated heritage processes and best practice doctrine like the Connecting with Country Framework.

If you're attending the conference we look forward to seeing you there!

Swipe to spot the animal!

Thermal cameras are essential tools for our ecologists. They help us find animals during our night surveys – just like this brushtail possum.

📣 Attention Honours students studying wildlife ecology: applications for the Daniel Gilmore Scholarship will be opening on Monday 14 September.

The scholarship, worth $3,000, was established in memory of our dear friend and colleague Daniel Gilmore, who was a brilliant zoologist at Biosis for more than 20 years. Sadly Dan passed away in 2022, this scholarship is a way of continuing his legacy 💚

For more information on Dan and the scholarship, including what questions you'll need to answer on the applications, visit www.biosis.com.au/about-biosis-apem/daniel-gilmore-scholarship/
