Last weekend Ewan competed in KA3 Senior Light for the first time at round one of the Victorian Country Series at Cobden. Qualifying was a bit of a struggle with the 12th quickest time on second hand wets. The rest of the weekend stayed dry and produced the following heat results.

Heat 1 12th ➡️ 7th
Heat 2 7th ➡️ 4th
Heat 3 5th 🟰 5th

Ewan started off the final in 4th and crossed the finish line in a solid 5th place ending a good first meeting in senior's.

Thanks to Heywood Lime, Wurth, Arrow Karts for the great X7 chassis, J&A Kart Tuning for the awsome engine's and Kart Class for all their support.

We are still continuing to offer our maintenance services for those finding it hard to get time getting their kart ready between test and race days. Just drop your kart off and all the work will be done and ready for you to pick-up. This is also a good way for you to get your kart ready for the start of the season. This year we are also offering driver training for practice and on race days. Please feel free to contact us about any of our services to discuss further.

Now that the Christmas break has finished, it's time to head out to the shed and make sure that the kart is ready for the start of the season. Below is a short list of things to check before your first trip to the track in 2026 ends in frustration.

- Look over all steering components for wear in rose joints, king pins bearings & steering column bearing. Check the steering alignment as this sometimes moves over time.

- Ensure brake pads aren't worn out and brake likes are in good condition. Also check that the fluid level is ok and fluid isn't a milky colour due to moisture.

- Check over the chain that it doesn't have any tight spots, damaged links or rollers. Ensure both engine and axle sprockets aren't worn to a sharp point or bent. Take the clutch drum off and check the hub for cracks. Ensure the needle roller bearing has sufficient lubrication.

- With the chain off, spin the axle to check if bent and bearings spin freely. If it sounds like a cement mixer then the bearings need to be removed, cleaned (or replaced), lubricated and reinstalled. This also applies to the front wheels.

- All fuel lines to be checked that they are not hard or cracked, these should all be soft. If running an inline filter then check for debris. Remove the airbox and filter and remove any debris in the airbox and blow the air filter out with air.

- The chassis should be checked over for cracks, loose or damaged bolts and cracks on the seat. Having a good look under the kart ensures all area's are covered.

- Charge all batteries before heading to the track for that first run.

Hopefully this check list ensures that your first trip to the track for the year is enjoyable.

We had a good last year in Juniors with podiums and top 5 finishes in major meetings. Thanks to Heywood Lime, DPE Kart Technology/Arrow Karts and Wurth for their support. Also to Anthony at J&A Kart Tuning for providing us fantastic engines and Dave Sera of Kart Class for all his advice. See you all in 2026.

Last weekend we competed at the Victorian State Cup in Cobden. Qualifying was wet on Saturday morning and we went the wrong way with set-up which resulted in a 9th place start for the first two heats. Just before the start of heat 1 it started raining with the whole field racing on slicks. Ewan made a good start and made his way to 1st by the 2nd corner which resulted in the win. Heat 2 was dry, and again Ewan moved his way to 3rd by the end of the race.
Sunday was dry, and a starting position of 2nd for heat three would result in a 3rd place finish. With a starting position of 2nd for the final we had high hopes of a solid race but we just didn't have the pace we were looking for. Ewan raced hard all final long and crossed the line for a creditable 5th place finish.
A big thanks to our sponsors Heywood Lime, Wurth and DPE Kart Technology. Big thanks also to Dave Sera of Kart Class and J&A Kart Tuning for the fantastic engines.

Last weekend we travelled to Puckapunyal for the Junior Sprint Classic. Racing in KA3 Junior Heavy, we started the weekend running around 12th in practice. Qualifying wasn't ideal with a time only quick enough for only 12th in the 20 kart field. We worked on set up and improved in the first two heats to finish 5th and 9th.
For Sundays final 2 heat races Ewan started 6th. He was able to finish both heats in 4th place which meant a 5th place start for the final. On the first lap of the final Ewan moved his way upto 3rd place before being pushed off the track and eventually crossing the line in 8th position.
We would like to thank Heywood Lime, Wurth and DPE Kart Technology for all their support and J & A Kart Tuning for the unreal engines.

Victorian Country Series rounds 4 and 5 race recap.

We travelled to Wimmera last month for round 4 with a field of 25 drivers. The weekend started well and then fell apart pretty quickly after qualifying in 6th position.

Heat 1 - started 6th, taken out DNF
Heat 2 - started 25th, finished 11th
Heat 3 - started 16th, went to last, finished 16th
Final - started 17th, finished 11th.

Two weeks ago we raced round 5 at Hamilton, qualifying 5th out of 20 drivers. We had trouble finding a good set-up as the weekend went on.

Heat 1 - started 5th, finished 4th
Heat 2 - started 4th, finished 8th
Heat 3 - started 5th, finished 6th
Final - started 5th, finished 8th

Not the greatest results over the 2 rounds, but we have learnt plenty and had fun doing it.

Thanks to Heywood Lime, Wurth and DPE Kart Technology for all their support. Thanks as always to J&A Kart Tuning for the fantastic engines.

We travelled to Melbourne last weekend to contest the City of Melbourne Titles at GKCV. This was the first major meeting that we competed in KA3 Junior Heavy. We missed the set-up for qualifying which meant a starting position of 12th for the first two heats. Results of 5th and 12th in the first two heats resulted in an 8th place start for the third heat on Sunday morning.
After some more changes overnight, Ewan was able to finish the third heat in 5th, which meant a starting position of 7th in the final. A good start and solid race in the final saw Ewan cross the line in 5th place with some good knowledge gained from the weekend.
Thanks to Heywood Lime, Wurth and DPE Kart Technology for their support. Also to Anthony at J&A Kart Tuning for the awsome engine's and support.
