🚨 FIRE ANTS DETECTED IN SYDNEY – A REMINDER TO STAY VIGILANT!

Red imported fire ants have been detected at the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre in Sydney's inner west, prompting a biosecurity response from NSW authorities.

Specialist fire ant detection dog teams were deployed to a nearby area; and no additional nests have been found so far. Genetic testing also suggests the ants arrived from overseas rather than the existing Queensland infestation.

For those of us in this industry, it's another reminder of just how important early detection, regular inspections and strong biosecurity measures are in preventing invasive pests from becoming established.

With freight, shipping containers and goods moving across the country every day, professional pest managers have an important role to play in recognising potential incursions and reporting suspicious activity.
