Kerri Ellis - Independent Marketing Consultant Mission Statement:
“To create a platform for creatives to have a voice". Around the same time, I became associated with Bucket Lounge. How wowerful are you?

In 2012, after making a massive career change, I started using my promotion, marketing & PR skills to create pages for companies and local businesses. I followed on from there and completed my Cert III in Management so as to launch my new career. I loved this night so much I wanted to become involved with it and so I did. A Business Coach recommended that I take my passion and build my bu

siness around that rather than small businesses - my passions are music, dance and creative writing. And that is exactly what I am doing. I am daily shapeshifting my life and my business; it is an ever ongoing process. My mission is “To create a platform for creatives to have a voice". I do this by staging live music nights that give up & coming, (and the not so up & coming), independent performers a platform to make themselves known. There are times when there are offshoots and I am hired to use my skills in PR, marketing, promotion and events for artists and performers. At times others hire my skills to market their business and I do that as well. I get a total buzz watching others respond to my work. My head is filled with ideas of other projects to become a part of and I am moving in that direction. So you will see from time to time updates that show you as I transpire into reality my dreams and the dreams of others. I believe we need more creativity in our world and less mainstream. I want to help make you WOWERFUL!! I want to help you stand out from the crowd. I want to help you make your dreams a reality. Personal page: https://www.facebook.com/kerri.ellis.3

Coming up this weekend is the Newcastle Medieval Festival in Newcastle. Aljamia Art submitted an application to be part of the festival and they will be there playing their medieval music.

If you live in Newcastle, get along. Or perhaps a drive up the highway from Sydney.

EPHEMERA QUARTET ALBUM LAUNCH + THE WEATHER BIRDS

Join us for this launch of Ephemera Quartet's 3rd space jazz album of original compositions and improvisations inspired by astronomy, led by Keyna Wilkins with Elsen Price, Will Gilbert, and Jodie Michael, supported by Bernice Tesara's The Weatherbirds in the heart of Sydney's inner west, The Living Room Theatre, Marrickville! Doors: 6.30pm, The Weather Birds: 7pm, Ephemera Quartet: 7.30pm. Drinks and light refreshments are available.

THE WEATHERBIRDS
Weatherbirds is the joyous musical collaboration between trumpeter Bernice Tesara and saxophonist/pianist Max Leggott. Bred on the grounds of the Sydney Conservatorium, their music pays homage to jazz standards. They draw influence from the clave of Cam Undy, Greg Sheean’s rhythm diamonds, and the chordless quartets of Gerry Mulligan.

EPHEMERA QUARTET
"Hypnotic, transformative" DOWNTOWN MUSIC, NEW YORK

"Full of sonic texturfes and infinite possibilities" THE MUSIC TRUST

Ephemera offers a musical exploration of celestial landscapes. The themes include pulsars, craters, planetary atmospheres, stars, the sun and the void. Merging the sound worlds of jazz and contemporary classical, the performance is set to real space sounds and projections. It creates a unique sonic experience.

The ensemble is led by Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute/compositions), Elsen Price (double bass/loop pedal), and Will Gilbert (trumpet), with the new addition of Jodie Michael (drumset), and includes freely improvised pieces. NASA recordings of electromagnetic waves from planets and stars are the backdrop soundtrack and have been compiled by astronomer Professor Paul Francis, often with projections of space probe footage. Each member brings their own unique voice to the ensemble, drawing from a multitude of musical backgrounds that combine to create a distinctive sound world that organically reacts to stellar concepts. Universe and Universality. They have released 2 albums on all streaming platforms: Blackholes and Modulations (2021) and Orbits and Riffs (2017).

Formed in 2015, this ensemble has performed internationally and around Australia, including 6 concerts in Japan, being featured at MONA Evenings Series, Extended Play Festival of New Music at City Recital Hall and Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival, at Foundry 616, Red Rattler, Woodburn Creatives and Melbourne's Uptown Jazz Cafe and many more.

Sora-Jackson Duo

Ewan spent seven years in London before moving to Sydney, where he met Mikaela, a recently graduated pianist from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The pair have been inseparable ever since.

Coming from two distinct musical worlds, they first found common ground playing jazz standards. It soon became clear that they shared the same poetic language and began writing with their duo in mind. This instrumental combination, where harmonic and melodic material can be shared, is a flexible framework to form an intimate and dynamic dialogue, a sound world that can range from bell-like to percussive. Mikaela and Ewan draw from a diverse range of stylistic influences, from impressionist and Soviet jazz schools to Julian Lage.
