Do you work in children’s education and care? Is your service allergy aware?

An allergy aware approach is recommended in the National Allergy Council’s Best Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Anaphylaxis in Children’s Education and Care.

Allergy-aware services, including long day care, family day care, outside school hours care and vacation care, work with families in many ways to reduce the risk of a child with allergies having an allergic reaction. If an allergic reaction occurs while a child is at the service, staff can respond and manage it appropriately.

3 Day Guarantee: changes to subsidised child care hours from 5 January 2026 📣

- Families can get at least 72 hours of subsidised care each fortnight. ✅

- You may get up to 100 hours if you have more than 48 hours of recognised participation per fortnight or have a valid exemption. ✅

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children can get 100 hours. ✅

Families must still pay a gap fee, except in certain circumstances.
