This past two months has been intense for me.

Maternity leave ending. Daycare transition. Daycare plagues. My eldest getting glasses (including pink to look like mummy 😭). End of the baby days of my life and all the feels that come with that. Joining the druid mystery school to go further into my spirituality and connection with the earth. Returning to and kicking off a large retainer client. Starting Menu Club and getting it off the ground.

And across all of it, I decided to apply to Eastern Innovation’s Pitch Night. When I applied I didn’t even think I’d hear back.

I was incredibly stoked to get nominated as one of the businesses chosen to get funded pitch training with Sam. Whose pitch training is as excellent as her photo bomb here 🤣

And 8 weeks of going deep into improving Menu Club. My goal for the program I worked out with Sam was to leave no stone unturned.

In this photo is me and my awesome fellow Pitchers Hilary of and Andrew of - both excellent businesses and humans. Alert Paw for ensuring pets are looked after if their pet parents are unwell or can’t. Food, medicines, and all. Tee 30 Golf for creating a much-needed service to look after the Dad’s in our community who seriously need support on par with what Mum’s get.

Standing up on that stage in front of over 80 people I didn’t expect to be so nervous. Speaking about trends or other businesses hit wayyyy different to speaking about my own business. Having a panel of judges (who were awesome) and the little timer bell and feeling scrutinised. Everyone was so friendly but like yoga it showed me where I need to nurture. Despite all the practice my entire talk dissolved into a blank brain more than once.

And I won.

I’m so excited. I’ve been working so hard and it really feels like such a breakthrough. And an opportunity that is so generous of and to invest so much into Menu Club and the vision I have for it.

My home base is now Eastern Innovation Coworking and I couldn’t be more thrilled to join CEO Allira Cundy and the incredible community she has built there!

Thank you to everyone and I can’t wait for what’s to come.

I like to come up with 5 excellent insights from each realm before moving to design solutions.

It gives me an awesome buffet of possibilities.

Little guidelines also signal me to move to the next stage of my process so I’m never in analysis paralysis.

Creative processes are very lateral and the same divergent thinking that makes creativity so potent also means you can create ideas forever without moving on (or knowing if they are right for you, though that’s another story).

Don’t knock novelty when you’re reimagining. It’s a great source of joy.

Not every shift to the status quo has to be woke. Sometimes a little interruption to daily life is just as good for the soul.

On that, I’d love to make a bonus module sometime on how much we can learn as business owners from comedians when it comes to creating great strategy. The late comedian Mitch Hedberg revealed how useful it is that when elevators break, they just become stairs. There’s SO much insight in that, however silly it is.

Emotions are the glue that sticks customers to your brand. Business owners who understand this can build a loyal following that’s hard to shake. I’ve seen it firsthand - when I’m bold enough to try something no one has done before and really back myself, it all comes together. People appear out of the woodwork having been waiting for someone to shake up whatever it is.

But I’ve also experienced the frustration of lacklustre launches and feeling like I’m not quite resonating with my audience. It’s a vulnerable feeling, but it’s also an opportunity to reflect and adjust.

As I look back on my own journey, I’m reminded that building a brand is not just about strategy - it’s about creating a movement that’s rooted in emotion, empathy, and connection. And that’s exactly what I want to help you do.

I remember earning multiple millions of dollars for a large corporate client once. I was elated as it was a big win on top of their YOY expected growth. But it was also shocking to realise how pedestrian it was for them. They essentially didn’t notice the extra mils moving around their organisation. At most it was a successful project that made the client look good. Which is fine.

But that money means a lot more in the pocket of a small business. And it’s one of the biggest reasons why I want Menu Club to be about local venues. A couple million in their pocket is sending their children to a better school, paying off a house, going on more family holidays, money sent back home to look after family from another place.

It’s so much more meaningful to see that growth, and if the way I can earn a living gets to be this way, that’s a bit of alright.

Public transport by boat.

Public transport and rideshare alike have been gradually expanding to regional types of transport options such as rickshaws which is already really cool to see. The future and the past both colliding in the present is always a really cool thing to see.

Bangkok is adding electric boats as it’s newest method of public transport. You can hail boats via an app with fares calculated based on distance. It alleviates traffic jams, is an environmentally friendly alternative, and no doubt will be a tourist drawcard too.
