New from our newsletter: Leading from the Margins

Inclusion is often celebrated in principle but what happens when it’s tested in practice?

In our latest edition, we examine the illusion of workplace neutrality, and how efforts to “stay above the politics” can end up silencing the very voices inclusion is meant to protect.

🌟 100% 5-Star Ratings. 100% NPS. Full House in Sydney. 🌟

We had an incredible Reconfiguring Gravity™ Sydney Pilot Workshop on Saturday and what a room it was. A full house, a deeply engaged group, and every single participant rating the workshop 5/5 and saying they would recommend it to a friend or colleague.

What stood out most to participants?
✨ The powerful gravity analogy - orbits, pulls, and centres of power.
✨ How to recognise and ethically resist power dynamics in their own work and lives.
✨ The clarity it brought to their own positioning and the sense that they’re not alone.

What will they take away?
✔️ New language and framing to shape their advocacy.
✔️ A stronger commitment to silent and visible resistance.
✔️ A clearer view of how to reshape the centre while holding their own space.

This work is just beginning and we’re already seeing how much it resonates.

Next stop: Brisbane, 9 August.
We still have a few places left so if you’d like to join us, here’s the link to register:

🌏 Melbourne, you set the tone!

This weekend we delivered the first Reconfiguring Gravity Pilot Workshop in Melbourne and it was everything we hoped for and more.

The feedback was clear: this work is landing.

⭐️ Average rating: 4.8/5
📈 Net Promoter Score: 100

What stood out most to participants?

🔹 “The idea of the centre, the power it holds, and what pushes or pulls you toward or away from it.”
🔹 “Learning the language to articulate resistance in a power-dominated society.”
🔹 “Seeing how power is organically wielded in ways we often don’t notice.”

What did they find most valuable?

💡 Reflective exercises like the Resistance Map
💡 The Gravity Orbit Diagram and how it applies to real life
💡 Space for personal reflection and sharing

And what will they take away?

✅ A practical framework to identify where you are and how to implement ethical resistance
✅ Language to describe and challenge power dynamics
✅ The confidence to name and act on what they already feel

We designed this program to open up new ways of seeing, naming, and acting and it’s gratifying to see how deeply it resonated.

🎯 Next stop: Sydney, Saturday July 12.

We can’t wait to build on this momentum with the Sydney cohort next weekend.

We're just resharing this in case it’s of interest or relevant to someone you know.

We’re running a series of Reconfiguring Gravity™ pilot workshops across the country designed for people who’ve not always felt included in professional, civic, or community spaces.

It’s for those who’ve felt marginalised, misread, or left out of systems that weren’t built with them in mind.

🟨 Melbourne & Sydney: June–July
🟨 Brisbane, Perth & Adelaide: August-September
(First Melbourne session is now full but we’ll run a second session if there’s enough interest.)

Later this year, we’ll run another round for leaders, practitioners, and inclusion professionals.

If this sounds like you, or someone who’d benefit, here’s the link to register interest:

Reconfiguring Gravity Launch

After more than 20 years working across community leadership, consulting, and grassroots activism, I’ve seen a pattern play out over and over again.

People get invited into rooms, onto boards, into jobs or institutions, but the centre never really shifts. Inclusion often just means orbiting a space still defined by someone else.

That’s why I’ve launched a new project called Reconfiguring Gravity, a framework that helps us understand how power works, how voice is positioned, and what real systemic change requires.

It’s not about fixing individuals, it’s about shifting the gravitational pull of our systems, so we stop forcing people to adapt to spaces that were never made for them.

I’m running a series of pilot workshops around the country, and I’m inviting anyone who’s felt this, in work, education, leadership, or public life, to be part of the process.

If this speaks to you, or to someone you know, I’d love for you to take a look and register your interest.

Participation in the pilot workshops is at NO COST

This week we ran the very first Circles of Inclusion pilot workshop in Sydney.

It was a space for those who’ve experienced exclusion — not just to reflect, but to name, challenge, and begin to reframe what inclusion really means.

Too often, inclusion stops at invitation.
This program asks, What happens when we question the gravitational centre? When we move beyond visibility and toward voice?

This pilot is the first of around six we’ll be running nationally over the next month or so. It’s an introduction to the framework, the concepts, and the work to come.

Very soon we’ll also be opening up expressions of interest for a second round of pilots — specifically for practitioners, leaders, and those working in inclusion and systems change.

“Inclusion frameworks often celebrate authenticity yet punish those who live it too loudly.”
—from The Circles of Inclusion

We say we want people to “bring their whole selves.”
But too often, that invitation comes with unspoken conditions:
Bring your story, but don’t centre it.
Bring your difference, but not your discomfort.
Bring your truth, but not if it threatens the gravitational centre.

This isn’t just about individual resilience. It’s about organisational courage.
Because inclusion that punishes visibility isn’t inclusion.
It’s control, disguised as openness.

🟨 Have you ever felt this?
What does real inclusion demand from institutions, and from us?
