🐂⚡️ Bit different from changing a couple of downlights…

Spent some time out at an existing feedlot having a proper look through the electrical infrastructure for a future project we’re getting involved with.

The plan is to recreate a feedlot of a similar size and capacity, so today was about getting amongst it and understanding exactly what makes an operation like this tick — MCCs, large distribution boards, plant controls, substation infrastructure, motors, conveyors and everything else required to keep the place moving.

Safe to say there’s a little more involved than a power point and a fan. 😂

Plenty of orange switchboards, plenty of big gear, and plenty for us to sink our teeth into.

We probably should’ve brought a notebook…

Instead we brought electricians. Same thing, just more expensive. 😂🤙

Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Tender board’s looking a little busy… exactly how we like it. ⚡️

We’re currently tendering projects right across Brisbane and SEQ — commercial fit-outs, retail, developments, refurbishments and everything electrical in between.

⚓️ Monday morning at Scarborough Marina.

We work alongside the crew at Marine Works on plenty of their marine projects, handling the electrical side of things from repairs and fault finding through to upgrades and fit-outs.

Today’s job has Cooper buried down in the guts of a boat sorting out the electrics. 😂

Most people get the Monday blues… Cooper gets Monday bilges. ⚡️🛥️

Nothing like starting the week with a strip, twist and a cut-out.

Jackson’s over in Teneriffe this morning — where the coffees are $9, the dogs have better haircuts than us, and apparently even the cables need to be twisted with a bit of class. 😂

Friday arvo at Redbank… exactly where every sparky dreams of being. 😂⚡️❄️

Just knocking over an AC install before we begin the real job of the day — getting from Redbank back to Redcliffe in Friday traffic. 🚗💀

Air con: 2 hours.
Drive home: somewhere between 3 hours and next Tuesday.

At least the customer will be sitting in 22°C while we’re parked on the highway questioning every decision that led us here. 😂

DIRECTOR DUTIES: LEVEL 1 😂⚡️

Brad Keats — Director of Hang Loose Electrical, fearless leader, businessman, problem solver… and apparently still the bloke getting sent into a half-finished cupboard to fit a downlight. 😂

No boardroom.
No fancy meetings.
Just Brad, a roll of cable, a pair of shorts and the unmistakable look of a man wondering how he ended up back on the tools.

They say a good boss leads from the front.
Brad would just like to clarify that he never agreed to lead from inside the wardrobe. 🤣

From running the company to running cable — when things get busy, everyone gets amongst it.

And as Brad always says:

“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”

Neither, apparently, does management when there’s a downlight that needs fitting. 😂⚡️🤙

⚡️ COOPER’S FRIDAY FIELD TRIP ⚓️😂

We sent Cooper out for a normal electrical job this morning.

Somehow the bloke’s ended up inside a boat.

Few pumps to sort, bonding to check, cabling to tidy up and enough crawling around tight spaces to make him seriously reconsider every decision that led him to becoming an electrician.

To his credit, he’s right into it.

Although judging by the photos, we’re not entirely sure whether he’s doing marine electrical or trying to hot-wire the thing and knock off early. 😂

Either way, Cooper’s having an absolute day of it.

At Hang Loose, we like giving the boys plenty of variety.

Yesterday: electrician.
Today: marine technician.
By Monday: probably fixing a bloody forklift. 🤙⚡️

MEET THE TEAM 🤙⚡ — MICHAEL “LAS” LASSEN

Next cab off the rank in our Meet the Hang Loose Crew series is Michael — but if you call him Michael, there’s a good chance he won’t answer. To most people, he’s simply Las. 😂

Las comes from a highly competitive commercial electrical background, with a strong pedigree of training and plenty of years spent around major commercial projects, tight programs and even tighter margins.

These days, he brings that experience to Hang Loose, where he loves having his finger on the pulse of estimating, operations and what’s coming through the pipeline.

Tender due tomorrow? Las is on it.
Variation floating around? He knows about it.
Builder wants the price yesterday? Standard. 😂
Spreadsheet open with 47 tabs? Now we’re talking.

He loves putting a deal together, chasing the next opportunity and making sure Hang Loose stays competitive — although we’re still not convinced anyone should enjoy estimating as much as he does.

But underneath all the commercial carry-on, family is what Las is proudest of.

He’s a very proud stepdad to this crew and an even prouder Grandad to little Colton — although mentioning the word “Grandad” around him may affect the competitiveness of your next quote. 😂

Work hard, back your people and never take yourself too seriously.
