In this episode, we hear from Nidhi.

This is another Carers Testimonial, the audio companion to the stunning Real Carers, Real Stories – In Their Own Words digital photographic exhibition by Effy Alexakis

Nidhi lives with cerebral palsy and mild vision impairment, is a carer for her former partner and now friend, who himself is vision impaired. He is also in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, has depression and lives with a painful physical disability.

Aakriti, Elaine, Faten, Josephine, Leanne, Monira, Nidhi, Robina, Sylvia, and Thuy share with us what a day in the life of a carer is like.

There are more than 2.65 million unpaid carers in Australia. That’s 1 in 9 people. But research tells us that within CALD communities, caring is seen as a family and community responsibility. Many carers do not ask for help until they reach crisis point.

By sharing carers’ personal stories, other carers may be inspired to reach out for support and help.

Embrace Society conceived and produced this evocative Digital photographic exhibition as well as supporting resources. Its worth a visit.
