Not bad for winter. But requeen it with better genetics - why? Because being good isnt acceptable in a breeding program, neither is ugly just quietly 🤫.
World class doesn't happen accidentally - we dont select a good open mated queen to graft from.... no respectable queen producer does that - queen breeders wouldnt dream of it. Pedigree bees and inseminated queens are the key - controlling and having reliable genetics isnt a guessing game. It takes hard work, vigorous testing and lots of commitment and collaboration. Consistency is priceless, so is world class brood pattern, calm bees and reliable offspring.
Strong hives, young queens with strong hygienic behaviour - getting ready for some breeding work (instrumental insemination is breeding - open mating some queens is queen production) in the coming months.
