This September, the amazing Emma Smith is taking on an incredible challenge: running a full marathon every single day for 30 days to raise vital funds and awareness for people and families affected by cancer. π
Thatβs 30 marathons. 30 days. More than 1,265 kilometres. All for a cause that means so much to Emma and to so many of us.
Please follow Emmaβs page and join us in cheering her on throughout September. And if youβre able to, please consider making a donation to support her incredible effort and the difference sheβs hoping to make.
What an inspirational woman. Go Emma! πββοΈπ
30 marathons. 30 days. 1,265.85 kilometres. One reason why. π
In just eight days, Iβll lace up my running shoes and begin the biggest challenge of my life.
Throughout September, Iβll run one full 42.195 km marathon every single day for 30 consecutive days.
Thatβs 30 marathons. 1,265.85 kilometres.
And Iβm doing it because cancer has changed my family forever.
My mum, sister and brother have all faced cancer diagnoses.
In 2022, I also experienced the heartbreak of losing my friend Todd Walsh to cancer. Todd was just 40 years old and left behind his wife and three children.
Losing Todd was the moment that turned years of feeling helpless into a determination to do something.
For a long time, Iβd wondered what I could possibly do that would make a difference.
Month of Marathons is my answer.
From 1 September, Iβll run for those facing cancer today. For the families beside them. For the people weβve lost. And for the people we hope will never have to hear the words, βYou have cancer.β
Along the way, Iβll be raising funds for Cancer Council to support their work in cancer research, prevention and support.
This will be the hardest physical challenge Iβve ever attempted, and I know there will be days when 42.195 km feels almost impossible.
But thereβs a reason behind every kilometre.
Over the next 38 days, Iβd love you to follow this journey with me.
