📢 StickyBeak Field Day — Soils, Crops & Pastures

Join Mitchell and District Landcare Association for an afternoon in the paddock, starting at "Mt Ascot" and finishing up at "Baynham" thanks to Mt Ascot Merinos/Jolly Jumbuck Poll Merino Stud

📅 Wednesday 9 September 2026 🕧 12:45pm – 5pm 📍 Mt Ascot, entrance via Eastern Creek Road, Mitchell

We'll be getting into the paddock to answer:
🌾How do dual purpose winter crops perform?
🌱 What are paddock strategies for improving pasture productivity?
🚜 How do key soil characteristics dictate the effectiveness of different cultivation equipment to improve land condition?

On the day you'll hear from Ted Callanan & Rod O'Connor (QDPI), Craig Miller (Nutrien), Jon Thelander (Seednet) and Cameron Leckie (SQNNSW Innovation Hub) — plus a soil coring and machinery/tillage demonstration, mapping insights, and a walk through dual purpose crop options. We'll wrap up with a BBQ and a Mitchell Landcare equipment auction.

NEED TO IMPROVE WHS?

We have had some interest in a face to face component of our WHS Bootcamp to add a conversation that really digs into the human/hr/staff side of getting whs on track. A meaty but down to earth conversation that will make whs about your team, more than the paperwork.

From the workshop, you will continue in our WHS bootcamp to access resources, templates and support to put whs systems in place.

We are calling for EOIs in the Roma, Coonamble and Condobolin areas - seeking farm business who want to make a difference in there WHS and kick off with a face to face workshop.
