As business owners we understand, you cannot wear all the hats in your organization, we need to allocate the perfect skill set to tasks each & every time, ensuring the desired outcome. These outcomes have a major impact on our customers & bottom line. Our front-line staff are our first impression.

Scott has managed large teams in 5-star hospitality venues around the country, sports organizations, & sales teams. He has played many team sports & subsequently captained these teams also. Scott's belief is that leadership rather than management is equal to prevention is better than cure. Scott has learnt, you must have the right person in the correct seat on your bus. Failure to plan, means you plan to fail. SIMPLES!

This afternoon’s post is aimed for the solopreneurs. How many of you have a team, see as I said this morning, you as the leader in the business, it is your job to do one thing and one thing only that is INCOME PRODUCING ACTIVITIES and nothing more. If you don’t do this then you won’t do anything else except have bought yourself a job.

Having a team is very important, but the team can’t just be anyone, it has to be the right people who not only are the best who can achieve the tasks they have to do but complement you and fit into the team culture.

See not every person fits the team, if they don’t fit then don’t be afraid to go NEXT and find someone else, holding onto the wrong team members affects the business. You have to be strong and CUT THE DEAD WOOD, don’t just hold onto someone for the sake of it.
Have you got underperforming staff in your business, do you have the processes in place to manage these people and have you ever felt guilty to let an underperforming staff member go.

I was watching some of Grant Cardone’s content on YouTube today and he dropped a nugget which I knew but a lot of people who own businesses don’t and that is what makes you get into the Top 1% of business owners in the world. Well the top 1% have a different set of rules they play by which the rest of us don’t get.

My mission in life is to bring my knowledge, skills and what I have learned taking businesses from nothing to something and taking them to the Top 1%. I live and breathe this stuff…….

So today’s tip is all about do what bring in the money, outsource what doesn’t. On Monday, I posted the question about what does a typical day look like……. The amount of business owners I see, talk to or personally work with that spend their business day just bogged down with crap that their work day doesn’t start until all the staff have left and the sun has gone down.

Then they have no distractions and can get on with it. Business owners have so must wasted time each and every day just doing stuff that doesn’t bring in the dollars……

Here is a real-life example, I have a client who is a photographer. I asked her to map out her day, she would spend 2 days a week shooting photos, 1 day editing photos for the two days of work, 1 day of selling, 1 day doing administrative tasks. Out of 5 days she was only doing 3 days doing income producing tasks.

We changed that we outsourced EVERYTHING in her business that wasn’t an income producing task. This one task tripled her income within three months. It paid for itself and actually put more money into her pocket (after expenses).

Your job as the business owner in the early stages of business is to do one thing, that one thing is focus ONLY ON INCOME PRODUCING TASKS and OUTSOURCE EVERYTHING ELSE…..

So, my question for everyone today is how much of your week is spend on INCOME PRODUCING ACTIVITIES

So I am a Brisbane Broncos fan, so for those who follow the NRL, you would know that the Brisbane Broncos have had two very disappointing years in the competition......

So I was at the game on Sunday, but I was thinking today, what lessons can be learned from the Brisbane Broncos that apply in business?

Well, in my opinion there are a few.

The first one, if you look back the Broncos really started to struggle once the NRL rule changes game into effect, the game got faster and changed..... The clubs that struggled with the rule changes struggled. The same applies to business, if your struggling and your market has changed if you don't do something about it you will either stay the way you are and won''t grow or you will eventually die. So it is important to always be reviewing what the market is doing and change when needed.
The second one is the right team.... The Broncos were held back by paying top dollars for players who in my opinion, sure showed promise and talent but weren't delivering. Your team is important and they need to be delivering results not just showing potential......

Keep at it.

The Broncos could have just said look there goes another season, let's try again next season, no they are learning and trying new things and reviewing those lessons and making changes. If you give up and say, Look I'll try again next year, don't keep at it, don't give up, keep learning and trying new things. The more you try and fail forward the more you learn and if you keep at it, you will get there.

Surround yourself with the right people!!

Over the last three weeks I have started to get back out there, not sitting at home letting my mind run my life, I have started getting out there, talking to people, meeting people, connecting with people and it is amazing how easy the mind shifts.

What lessons have you learned, and have you applied these to your business and what changes have you seen as a result of it.

What Are You Doing Every Day In Your Business ❓❓❓

Ask you..... What are you doing every day in your business?
What time do you get to work?
What happens when you walk through the door ?
Do you actually get anything done?
Do you actually get to work on your business?
Are you dealing with problems, putting out fires and at the end of the day feel like you have achieved nothing or when the staff leave, then your day begins ?
Or the biggest question how much revenue did you generate in your business today ?

I'd love to know what your day looks like, and what do you achieve at the end of it and how much new revenue did YOU actually get to generate❓❓❓

Did you know there is an actual science to testing a business idea or concept.....

Who would love to know what that is ???

Drop me a YES !!!! in the comments below

04/07/2021

Do you have a business idea ???

I come across so many great business ideas and concepts but ESTIMATES ARE THAT one in three new small businesses in Australia fail in their first year of operation, two out of four by the end of the second year, and three out of four by the fifth year.

That's a really frightening number isn't it ???

Below is some of the main reasons why they fail

42% of startup businesses fail because there’s no market need for their services or products.
29% failed because they ran out of cash.
23% failed because they didn’t have the right team running the business.
19% were outcompeted.
18% failed because of pricing and cost issues.
17% failed because of a poor product offering.
17% failed because they lacked a business model.
14% failed because of poor marketing.
14% failed because they ignored their customers.

But did you know the most important key business principal I have come across is that .......

SO MANY STARTUP'S OR FAILING/STRUGGLING BUSINESS DON'T GO BACK TO BASICS AND THAT IS TESTING YOUR BUSINESS IDEA.

So I'd love to know in the comments, did you test your business idea or concept before going to market and are you paying the price right now for not doing so. Or has the market shifted, and your struggling, but did you go back to basics.....

Well it is a Sunday afternoon and I was sitting here thinking..........

How many people do truely own a REAL BUSINESS !!!

Now most people would say, hell yes I have a real business, I goto work before the staff arrive, I'm the last to leave, I work the longest hours and when I really sit down, I never get to take leave and work out my "hourly rate" I get paid the least

Well I'm sorry to tell you but that isn't the defination of a REAL BUSINESS !!!!

If you really think about, this isn't a REAL BUSINESS in fact all you have done is BOUGHT YOURSELF A JOB !!!!!!

Lets look at this scenario

Person A has 5 locations, every business runs the same, it runs whether you are in there or not and you work on the business rather than in it and has income to invest in other income streams to grow their wealth.

OR

Person B has a single location, the owner works in the business and not on it, the business owns your life, you don't get leave or the business stops, falls apart or worse still your the magic in the business and do everything and at the end of the day you make an living, your comfortable and you get by.

Person A has a REAL BUSINESS and Person B just bought themselves a job sure they might make more money than a job, but they aren't free. If they aren't doing the work or running the day to day operations of the business they really are limited to their earning potential.

So I'd love to know in the comments, which person are you. Do you have a REAL BUSINESS or when you really think about it I'VE JUST BOUGHT MYSELF A JOB.

I'm back and have more fire in my belly than ever before. Those who know me personally would know that I have had major health issues over the last 14 months and it gave me a lot of time to reflect on my life and really it has rattled me to my core and got me thinking.......

WHAT IS YOUR WHY??

WHY, WHY do you do what you do??

Do you do it just to pay the bills?
Do you do it to get ahead ?
Or do what you do because it is comfortable?

Or do you have a real why?

Over the last 3months I have asked myself all of these questions, Andrew, why do you really want to be The Business Turnaround Guy, you could go and work for someone and consult to them and have an average life......

Well, people who have known me back in the late 90's and early 00's know that I'm not average, I'm a leader, a visionary and I have taken businesses from $0 to $1 million and million dollar business to $30 million. So I know what needs to happen but my WHY is simple.

I am sick and tired of seeing businesses fail, I am sick and tired of seeing so many good ideas just remain that an idea either in someone's mind, in a book.

I'm sick and tired of seeing business owners flogging themselves absolutely stupid, risking it all, just to be broke (whether it is time broke, financially broke, broken relationships, broken families etc).

I want to bring my skills, knowledge and actually been there done that skills to help as many businesses as possible in my areas of speciality, to go from broke to thriving.

I want to work with those people who have a dream, vision or idea bring it to life rather than just saying..... Oh well I'll just play it safe cause it's easy.

I want to reduce the failure rate in business and I want the people who truely love what they are doing also to make a difference in this world.

So I'd love to know, what is your why, why to do you do what you do, and what difference do you want to make, it could be as simple as being able to go to watch my child at a school assemby because doing so really will make their day and show you care.
