The Liebich’s were born into winemaking and have been custodians of quality vineyards and winemaking since 1919. Our winemaker, Ron, has been making wines in the Barossa for over 50 years. Together with his wife, Janet, they continue this long tradition and passion for sharing great wine, food and company. Our name is pronounced Lee-BICK wine, meaning “I love wine” in German.

You see a glass of fortified wine.

We see tradition for continuing classic Barossa styles.
Years spent maturing in barrel requiring patience.
Family history being passed down through generations.
Characterful wines of diverse styles and flavour profiles.
A warming glass of fortified is a moment to relax and treat yourself to a little indulgence.

Do you agree? What else do you see?

Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter.

It's certainly turned chilly this week in the Barossa Valley. Winter is the perfect time to rug up, take stock of your cellar and pull out some hearty red wines to enjoy. Of course it's ideal for a schluck of fortified from the barrel too!

What's the story behind our flagship Barossa Shiraz?

It starts in 1969 when Ron's Uncle, Clarence Walter "Da**ie" Liebich, planted the vines on the eastern slopes of Rowland Flat along Jacob Road.

Uncle Da**ie had jet black hair and dark skin. The nickname stuck. When Ron started making wine from those same old vines decades later, naming the Shiraz in honour of him just made sense.

All the resulting vintages have displayed concentrated berries and cherries, subtle spice from oak maturation, and a richness that only comes from old vines and a whole lot of patience.

There is limited stock of older vintages available now. Vintage 2010 and 2012 are drinking beautifully and won't last long.

There’s something special about seeing an old barrel continue its journey.

Recently we connected with Tasmania’s Waubs Harbour Distillery, sharing a small piece of Barossa winemaking history through one of our old Tawny barrels.

These barrels have been in the Liebich family for 70 years maturing fortified wine for decades. Layers of character gets built slowly developing rich fruit, spice and history become part of the wood itself.

It's exciting to see that character passed on into a carefully crafted whisky. Flavour and tradition continue evolving long after the wine leaves the barrel.

Gather Round was a big success in the Barossa!

Ron took advantage of watching an AFL game at Barossa Park on Sunday taking in Giants v Tigers. He's a Crows man through and through, but a footy tragic at heart.

He got a thrill watching at the ground where he's chased down cricket balls and played lawn bowls over the years. As winery sponsors of Lyndoch Cricket Club and Barossa District Football & Netball Club, it was fantastic to see the transformation of the area.

Cheers to The Barossa Council and all involved in bringing the festival of footy to town.
