Sydney City Marine wishes to extend our gratitude to the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit SCM and meet with our staff. CN thanked all staff for outstanding support to the Navy's capability through maintenance of key assets and presented Director of SCM, Brenton Fischer a Chief of Navy Certificate of Appreciation for our efforts.

SCM welcomes ‘Tu Do’ to our facility to undergo urgent work ahead of it being put on permanent display at Australian National Maritime Museum.

The ‘Tu Do’ is famous for ferrying 31 South Vietnamese refugees to Darwin in 1977 as a part of the largest mass migration in modern history - the exodus of the Vietnamese boat people to escape the newly installed communist regime following the end of the Vietnam War.

Sydney City Marine has successfully docked HMAS Diamantina, one of the Royal Australian Navy's 52m Huon Class Minehunter Coastal vessels, demonstrating SCM’s ability to promptly respond to an urgent RAN request while effectively collaborating with a major prime, Thales to achieve a successful and timely outcome.
SCM was proud to showcase our capabilities and validate our strategically located resource in Sydney Harbour with the ability to dock Royal Australian Navy vessels in support of the Captain Cook Graving Dock at Fleet Base East.

A very special and proud day for Sydney City Marine as we welcomed senior Royal Australian Navy representatives to proudly receive the Slipping and Docking Qualification by the Naval Technical Bureau which formally qualifies SCM to dock and conduct maintenance activities on Australian Defence Force vessels up to 800 tonne.

A message to our customers,

Providing a safe environment for our customers and employees will always be our highest priority. in times such as these, it is more critical than ever.

We are pleased to inform you that to date, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our staff or anyone visiting our facility.

We understand that our ability to keep operating is a key requirement for our commercial and recreational customers alike and in the last couple of weeks to ensure this, we have taken the following steps:

What we have done:
* Increased cleaning and sanitisation of our facilities.
* Prepared our teams to respond quickly to any emerging situation to ensure the Health and Safety of all stakeholders visiting and working at our facility.
* Increased our operating hours and created 2 x non-overlapping shifts to reduce the number of personnel on site at any one time.

What we require from you:
* If you or your representatives have recently returned from overseas travel, please ensure they self isolate for a minimum 14 days in accordance with the recent government directions before entering our site.
* If you or your representative have recently visited our site and are suspected of having or are diagnosed of having the covid 19 virus please notify us immediately.
* Where possible please consider utilising digital solutions to communicate with our employees.
* Please contact our staff in advance and make an appointment if you would like to visit the facility for any reason as they will be working in shifts and may not be available at certain times throughout the day.
* When entering the site ensure you are aware of the 1.5 metre social distancing protocol.

We currently have full teams on deck and a full stock of materials to cater for all your vessel’s repairs and maintenance requirements.

Today has been a very proud and special day for SCM as we have been officially appointed by the Head of Maritime Systems, Rear Admiral Wendy Malcolm RAN, into the Maritime Systems Division Key Divisional Supplier program.

Key Divisional Suppliers are confirmed leaders in the provision of safety and quality support services to Defence.

The appointment is testament to the diligence and efforts by all staff to cooperatively reach and retain this certification of excellence, it also announces to Defence and Defence Industry that SCM now has the precise industry credentials to provide the expected high levels of vessel maintenance services to the Royal Australian Navy.

Building on relationships with best-in-class service providers, the program aims to support efforts in creating a strong, agile and intelligent service delivery, including the delivery of critical capabilities which have a significant impact on the business outcomes of the Maritime Systems Division.
