Maitland Return and Earn will be closed Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

We will be open as usual on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 for you to return all your holiday cans and bottles.

She uses our drive-in depots because it's an easy, hassle free experience. she says, it's worth doing Return and Earn because the money adds up fast, its good for the environment and using our depot has the extra benefit that Vinnies is paid an additional processing fee by the scheme so it is also a great way to support Vinnies.

Why not come down and try our depot, we pay the deposits back via EFTPOS so it goes straight into your bank there and then.

Fred is one of our regulars - he drives over from Cessnock with a fully loaded UTE and trailer.

This haul totalled 4,200 containers

He likes our drive-in depot in Rutherford, as the automated machines are so quick and efficient, he recons it would have taken him quite a few hours to return these by hand, so well worth the drive.

He also likes that the cash goes straight back into his bank.

Whether you have a load like Fred or just a few bags of cans, our friendly staff are always happy to process your containers. We pay the full 10c by EFTPOS and just by using our depot you are helping support Vinnies work in the community. (we get paid an extra processing fee on every container)

This is Sharon and Lewis from Woodberry. They use our automated depot in Rutherford as Sharon says its just so easy and simple. Lewis is a fan as it adds to his pocket money.

Thanks for using our depot! While you get your full 10c, every container you bring in also helps Vinnies, as we get paid a processing fee from the scheme. This helps support our work in the local communities around NSW, so a real win win.

Looking for a new volunteer challenge for 2025?

Vinnies needs volunteers to help in our Maitland Return and Earn depot, could this be you?

By volunteering, you’ll be joining a friendly team, learn new skills, work in a positive environment dealing direct with the public, and be helping to make a difference to those in the community who need it most.

We have a range of roles within our depots, including customer services, forklift drivers, pick-up and delivery drivers, store person and general duties.
