A lovely tribute by Jancis Robinson to Richard Smart , who first encouraged me to plant Pinot Noir at Three Capes Vineyard and gifted me his research clones( Smart clones) to plant on my site.
These were an extraordinarily generous gift prompted by his concern that his work would be lost and that happily he saw in Three Capes Vineyard what he declared in his site report as “ the best site to plant Pinot Noir in all of Tasmania “.
I’m delighted to offer the first vintage from his Smart Clones- unique to our vineyard- as a 2026 offering in extremely limited quantities.
Less than 200 bottles. Released in February 2027. Available on preorder now.

Need a map, vintage report or just the basics of getting the most out of your wine glass? It’s all here, and much more.

Between our rows of vines we have planted bulbs and wildflowers. Our Toulouse geese and Dorper sheep w**d and fertilise our precious grapes.
