Decoding data from the CAS-4 satellite is progressing well - thanks again to Mike, shortly we should have our first mini space command centre fully operational and able to stream data direct from space live.

Update: Nov 2017

The team have been working very hard on the project since July. We have started the paperwork to secure approval to launch in the USA, our first 3D printed model of the chassis was completed today after many revamped designs, the smt production line which will produce most of the electronics in the satellite was delivered last month and we are hoping it will be up and running by the end of November, GPS communications via Globalstar should commence testing in the new year, Star Radio started broadcasting last week, this radio station will be broadcast live from space if everything falls our way (we will provide the station details within the next 2-3 weeks so you can listen to progress) and we have started working on the source and storage of power.

Everything is heading in the right direction and in the new year we hope to have the first prototype fabricated and tested.

29 June 2017 – POC-1X Mission

There is not legal structure for space, thus no one has a legal right over space. The UN has specified some basic guidelines, however as a general rule space is lawless.

This does not stop you from legal issues in getting anything up to space.

So as DAE will be launching the satellite from the USA up to the International Space Station (ISS) we will need:

- A US Earth-imaging-licence
- ITU for the radio
- NOAA clearance
- IARU approval
- etc

This is a specialised field so DAE has engaged a consultant to manage these compliance issues.

This pretty much brings you up to date. There is a maze of company stuff but that is business related and will only bore you. However the structure has been establish as a start up business out of San Francisco/Palo Alto/Silicon Valley and it is great that Australia can be part of it.

We are not 100% sure yet, but DAE may be the first Australian Private company to launch a satellite into space if we are successful.
Our objective is to educate as many people as possible within this sector and give the opportunity for as many people as possible to participate in this project.

26 June 2017 - Mission 1 – POC-1X

Our first mission is to launch a proof of concept (POC)

It is made up of a CubeSat 1U (10cm x 10cm Frame). We will be using an EPS unit to power the satellite, a Helium UHF/VHF radio, a AntS UHF dual-dipole radio, Globalstar simplex radio with antenna, GPSRM 1 with GPS antenna, 5 x 2-cell panel solar cells, camera and a main processor .

This equipment will be tested and improved to finally make up the standard “engine” for all future missions.

As mentioned this is a 1U frame. In our Melbourne workshop is a 3U frame which will be developed for the second mission.
The above “engine” will take up 1U of the 3U frame, giving us a space of 2U (20cm x 10cm) for additional payloads for the video gaming server etc

Dragon Aerospace Engineering is a USA based new start up company specialising in the manufacture of small commercial satellites.

These satellites will be designed and manufactured for missions up to the Exosphere.

The Design, Research and Manufacturing of these small satellites will be a joint venture between the American and the Australian subsidiary

The initial mission will include Earth Imaging for traffic management, Telecommunications for both communications and data management across the globe and high performance based server technology for the video gaming industry

The missions will be launched and managed from the USA, the space operations centres will primarily be located in Australia and the Orbit release will be managed by the International Space Station

DAE plans to update this FB page at each stage of each process to give you an in depth look into satellite technology and the requirements to launch a satellite into space.

We hope you enjoy the ride
