Many people struggle with interior colour, and white is probably the hardest.

"I just want a white interior to make the rooms feel larger and cleaner", they say. But often you can choose the wrong white and be very disappointed. Some whites will make the room look grey, pink, lilac, green, creamy or even blue as so many factors influence the end result!

This is a really interesting web article from Dulux that I would like to share with you.

Further on the topic of trending colours, Dulux brings us an Autumn 2022 palette!

Colours of Autumn are warm, rich and decadent – think deep teal and dusty rose, alongside warm neutrals and a pop of vintage gold. Together, they create a look that is warm, expressive, and inviting.

Here is a before and after photo using trending colours, keeping the overall feeling light and warm with soft neutrals balanced with bold, dramatic hues such as Murray Red. Then add decadent fabrics such as velvet and silk to complete the look.

What do you think? Great for city chic living...maybe not for our rural lifestyle...just yet!

Well here we are into the 2nd month of 2022 already so I thought it was time to share some decorating tips for the new year!

Are you planning a reno and wondering what colours are trending for interior spaces? Each year, paint companies and colour experts reveal their picks for the shade that best encapsulates the current period. Their choices for color of the year often draw on trends in pop culture, fashion, technology, and design from around the world, and the results are starting to roll in for 2022.

For example - Dulux states 2022 is all about 'Flourish, Restore and Wonder'...probably to help us deal with the Covid19 rollercoaster! Anyway, check out this Dulux website link for inspiration!

Pantone, the global authority on colour, has picked “Very Peri” as the colour of the year for 2022. The company describes Very Peri as “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red”. You are probably thinking - WTF? But colour doesn't have to dominate to make a statement. Check out these example pics to show it's potential application. Colours that pair well with Very Peri include greens, greys, whites, blues, beige and pinks.

If you need help with your colour scheme, please give me a call on 0414595262 for a consultation.

Now that we are getting into the warmer weather, did you promise yourself you would improve the insulation qualities of your home before summer 2021 due to being home more?

Yes, blockout fabrics is an improvement, but to get the maximum benefit on your windows it is more effective to have separate lining. Here is a little diagram from Nettex Fabrics (one of my main suppliers) about curtain lining.

Interlining can be also be used to improve and add extra insulation especially when you are working with lightweight finer fabrics such as silk and linen, and also adds extra padding for headboards and pelmets when used between the face fabric and the lining.

Hi everyone!
Apologies for being quiet on fb of late. Most of my work has been providing blinds to businesses (nothing bright and colourful there) but I have also been helping people out with upholstering dining chairs, making cushions, providing advice on home decorating ideas and furnishings and the like (including decluttering!).

I have a couple of big jobs in the pipeline (curtains, blinds, pelmets etc) which is exciting!

One thing I have learnt from the Covid19 pandemic is how it impacts this business as well as so many others. Some products are taking longer to come from overseas, and local curtain makers are flat out, due to many people renovating since they are spending so much more time at home!

With Christmas coming, if you want any home decorating jobs completed by then, now is the time to plan. Allow at least 6 weeks from the time you lodge your order, and that is not just with me!

Hope you are all doing well and looking after yourselves!
