Happy Monday baking gang!
Now that the weather’s cooling down, you might notice your starter getting a bit slow and sleepy. Totally normal this time of year, but it does mean we need to give it a little extra love.
I like to switch up what I’m feeding it through the colder months. Here I’m using our organic stoneground whole wheat, starters absolutely love whole grains. They’re full of nutrients, fibre and heaps of flavour, which helps get things moving again.
If your starter needs a proper boost, try rotating your feeds a bit. You could do a rye feed, then whole wheat, then back to white, and just keep that cycle going. It works wonders.
Just keep in mind that changing up your flours can slightly affect your final loaf, so don’t be surprised if things look or taste a little different.
