A redirect is a way to automatically send someone clicking on a link to a different URL than the one that was originally clicked.
There are many reasons to do this for example:
- You have removed a page for your website
- You have changed your URL

This helps improve 404 errors.

However, if you set one redirect that leads to another redirect, this creates a redirected chain.

Why should you avoid redirect chains?
- Slow down your website loading speed
- affect user experience
- create unnecessary HTTP requests

From 1 October 2026, businesses can no longer add a surcharge for customers paying by card.

If you currently charge a credit/debit card fee, now’s the time to check:

💳 Your Stripe / payment gateway settings
🧾 Your invoicing software (Xero, etc.)
🛒 Your website checkout
💰 Whether your pricing needs adjusting to absorb processing fees

The card processing fees are not going away. Businesses just can’t charge them as a separate card surcharge anymore.

Worth a quick check today if your systems add these fees automatically.
