Skillogalee Estate

Skillogalee Estate Family-owned winery estate with historic restaurant, cellar door & cottages in the Clare Valley, SA.

Established in 1970, the family-owned Skillogalee vineyards and winery have been releasing award-winning hand-crafted wines for over 50 years. Our grapes are grown in our own sustainably managed vineyards and produce wines with an exceptional expression of place. We grow a range of grape varieties include Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Muscat. Still family-own

ed, the vineyard is driven by our love of high-quality wine that expresses its natural terroir. Sustainably grown and carefully managed, our grapes allow for wine with full-bodied flavours that have won numerous awards, both locally and internationally. Overlooking the vineyards, natural bushland and picturesque rolling hills of the Clare Valley, are Skillogalee's charming historic Restaurant and Cellar Door, located in the original stone settlers’ cottage built in 1851. Open daily for over 30 years, they have become a cherished destination for generations of people from around Australia, and around the world. We welcome you to visit us 7-days a week for wine tasting, morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea and enjoy a relaxing break sampling some of the best food and wine in the region.

There are some views that never get old.

A big thank you to our guest John, who stayed at Wren Cottage, for sharing these incredible drone photos of the estate. Seeing Skillogalee from above offers a different perspective, from the vineyards stretching across the hills to the dam full once again after a welcome run of rain.

You might also notice the straw and compost around the base of some of the vines. It's part of our ongoing sustainability program, with each vineyard block treated over time to help retain moisture through the long, dry Clare Valley summer while gradually returning organic matter to the soil. The compost is made here on the estate using marc from our annual vintage, together with biodynamic compost teas.

We always enjoy seeing Skillogalee through the eyes of our guests. Thanks again for sharing these beautiful images, 📷 John.

Now released: Estate Shiraz 2023.

Crafted from low-yielding, dry-grown vines planted on the wooded hillsides of the Skillogalee estate, this Clare Valley Shiraz was basket-pressed by hand and matured for 16 months in French oak hogsheads.

Showing blackberry, black cherry and plum with notes of pepper, fennel seed and subtle earth spice, the palate is plush and expressive with fine tannins and a long, structured finish.

Following the sell-out of the 2022 vintage, we are pleased to share the release of the 2023 Estate Shiraz.

Available now via our website and cellar door.
