"This is a story of two distinct people coming together in shared harmony - walking side by side, sharing traditions and enriching one another through their cultures." - Fr Quyen Vu, Australian Provincial, Society of Jesus.
In 1851, Jesuit priests purchased the land here at Sevenhill, quickly forming a relationship grounded in mutual respect. Last Saturday we came together to acknowledge and celebrate the 175-year connection between the Jesuits and Ngadjuri people through a Welcome to Country, traditional smoking ceremony and prayer.
In 2018, following consultation with Ngadjuri Elders, stones were erected to mark and honour this enduring relationship. In 2022, young Ngadjuri artists Elley Waria and Adam Knibbs brought these stories to life through artwork depicting this relationship, the Dreaming, and the Wellsprings of Life — representing Sevenhill as a place of shared connection and cultural harmony.
