🚨ACTION AGAINST CHILD REMOVAL CAMPAIGN

In November 2025, Natalie Page (Survivor Family Network), and Dr Charlotte Proudman (Right2Equality) launched the Action Against Child Removal Campaign in Parliament. At this event, we published findings from our small-scale survey, which revealed:

🚩217 mothers had 342 children removed from their care.
🚩96.8% of these mothers had raised allegations of abuse during proceedings.
🚩81% were accused of failing to facilitate the child’s relationship with the father.
🚩In 45.6% of cases, no fact‑finding hearing was held on the abuse allegations.

This story outlines a ‘Lawyers Weekly’ approach to parenting arrangements. The Sisters in Law Project can report examples of parents attending Relationships Australia to prepare ‘trial and final’ parenting plans by agreement with some success. So important not to go down that family law adversarial rabbit hole if it can be helped!

One thing we find - parents don’t know what’s available to assist with parenting plans after separation. Try this for further information https://www.relationshipsnsw.org.au/resource/share-the-care/

This article provides the steps after mediation fails and court proceedings have commenced.

“Parenting coordination is an intervention that follows the determination of a family law dispute by court order where a parenting coordinator appointed by the court assists parents to navigate and apply the parenting orders without acrimony and to learn the skills to resolve future disputes without the need for lawyers and court.’”

We need a well-structured system to manage timely intervention when unmanaged parental disputes threaten the safety and well-being of children. Parenting Coordination is necessary to help improve the

In a recent Law Council- Family Law Section ‘Ignite’ Conference, the Safe and Together Institute was described as a world leader in the field of DFV education. This is a podcast that explains how professionals can avoid being manipulated by perpetrators-season 2!

They state
‘ Domestic violence perpetrators do not only target survivors. They also target the professionals & systems who want to want to help them. Many perpetrators, often using money, privilege and power, leverage systems to amplify their control. False allegations of substance abuse, mental health issues or child abuse are lodged with social services and family courts, often to devastating effect’ …. ‘In this episode, David & Ruth discuss how domestic violence perpetrators target practitioners in different systems, and why those systems are so vulnerable to these tactics.’

This is a brilliant session to educate lawyers in particular, who can be used to weaponise legal systems!

It’s great to see that this inquiry is extended. Each state should be looking at their police force- In NSW, the Edwards inquest should have sparked a significant public review- but nothing happened- let’s hope with elections coming in some states that we do a deep dive on the gaps in our polices services. So many survivors just don’t bother because they’re ignored or labelled!

‘“Queensland’s police commissioner, Katarina Carroll, was interrogated for more than eight hours at a public hearing in Brisbane last week after she initially declined an invitation to attend.
The commission said it was contacted by a number of Queensland police service (QPS) members after Carroll “agreed” there were “significant cultural issues relating to s*xism, misogyny and racism” within the force.
“After considering the answers to the questions put to [Carroll] at that hearing and upon receiving further communications from current and former members of the QPS … the commission has decided that it’s necessary to reopen call for submissions,” the commissioner, Deborah Richards, said during a brief hearing on Monday.”

Commission examining responses to domestic violence says Katarina Carroll’s appearance led to ‘further communications’ from officers

How common is it that abusers never stop! The threats, payback, intimidation are all in the kitbag of these perennial criminals!

This perpetrator has a criminal conviction yet it takes GT to actually stand up for herself to receive some action.

It is quoted …
‘Here he is, the twice-convicted child s*x offender, referring to my childhood email, which very few people know, in place of my name. It was the login to my old Facebook he and I communicated on. He’s counting down to an act of revenge, planned for the day of my book’s release.

“These threats clearly constitute a federal offence and contravene Twitter’s child exploitation policy, which states that it is prohibited to contribute to the re-victimisation and re-traumatisation of a child s*xual abuse survivor.”

When will systems designed to protect the vulnerable respond and support victims correctly.
So much scope for change…

Grace Tame has alleged she is still dealing with “open threats and harassment” from the man who s*xually abused her when she was a child.

Time and again I see women who have had their issues of abuse ignored by the court, children removed and handed to an identified and sometimes criminally convicted perpetrator. The common theme is the sense of loss by the mother, often the primary attachment. We never see this formally measured, the sense of loss of the children- no one goes there! This article explains the broken heart ideology. It is a clincal phenomenon. Thank you again to Tracey Oldham for posting this today on Twitter.

Poets and songwriters have long known that love hurts, but now scientists are examining the physical anguish caused by a breakup – and the results are helping people understand and recover from their distress
