Indigenous Business Month - October 2026 - Local and Connected

Our story began on Ngunnawal Country, and it remains a privilege to continue our work on these lands today.

There is something incredibly special about building a business that is grounded in place, relationships and connection, continuing to walk, work and contribute on many Countries that have cared for generations before us.

As we have grown, our connections have grown with us. We are proud to now have an office located on the lands of the Dharawal speaking peoples, alongside our strategic locations across Australia on the lands of Wiradjuri, Wurundjeri, Yuin, Gumbaynggirr, Peerapper, Worimi Darumbal, Dharug, and Gundungurra peoples.

Being a local and connected is more than where our offices are located. It is about knowing the communities we work alongside, understanding local contexts, building genuine relationships, and ensuring our work is shaped by the voices, experiences and aspirations of the people and places we are connected to.

For Aboriginal businesses, connection to Country and culture is central to who we are. It guides how we partner, how we create impact and how we honour the responsibility that comes with working across diverse lands and communities across Australia providing our professional services and living our values.

This Indigenous Business Month, we reflect on the importance of staying connected to Country, to community and to each other.

Our Co-CEO Belinda Kendall, presented at the Comcare National Conference 2026 on Ngunnawal Country, the conference emphasis well-being inclusion and empowerment as foundations for safe and thriving workplaces.

Curijo and Little Rocket collaborated on a workshop on 'Designing Culturally Safe Workplaces: First Nations' Perspectives for Safer, Stronger Teams'.

We were honoured to join our valued partner, ECTARC, for the launch of their Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan with CEO Anita Kumar.

Curijo was represented by L&D Capability Lead Ingrid Morgan, Aboriginal Consultant Nick Kilpatrick and Aboriginal Project Support Officer Kyola Williams. Our collaboration with ECTARC spans many years, including Tina McGhie and Kyola’s involvement in their RAP Working Group and our support for ECTARC’s Cultural Learning Journey, including the eLearning programme Unconscious Bias and Hidden Privilege (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples) as part of their onboarding and org-wide learning.

The morning was made especially meaningful by Uncle Richard Campbell, who created the RAP artwork, welcomed us to Country and shared the powerful sound of the Yidaki.

Our deep gratitude to ECTARC for including us in this important milestone. We look forward to continuing this meaningful work together.
