Seems there are a few more company's wanting to multi skill their staff into auditing. The results are showing very poorly, unfortunately this is leading to longer project turnaround times and additional costs. Keep in mind that auditing at all levels is all we do here at Compliance Plus e. That is why we are the leaders in ensuring projects meet all current standards and regulations. Keep us in mind for your next project to ensure your inspections are completed in a timely cost efficient manner. And don't allow this to become the norm.

Does having a company as a one stop shop work in relation to property development electrical infrastructure? From the developer point of view I think it looks good.
Less companies to deal with, less risk of issues going unrectified and better control to the end product. Sounds good but in reality, a major conflict between compliance and financial reward/outcome for the finished product.

This scenario leads to a possibility of too much flexibility and interference based on the threat of future projects being awarded elsewhere if the project fails. There is too much ambiguity in relation to what is most important in relation to safety and compliance.
Project managers become auditors and vis versa, hence you loose all integrity in relation to being beyond reproach for the purpose of compliance.

We have seen it time and time again where projects are pushed through the process in the name of financial ruins if it doesn't gain a certificate of compliance by a certain date. These dates get shifted time and time again to meet property development financial gain and are one of the main reasons for the pressure being applied to parties involved with these projects.
We all understand the need to be financial mindful and balanced as we move through a project from start to finish, that is why some project management companies are on top of the game.

When you have a one stop shop arrangement from design to compliance (auditing) how do you control the pressure of compliance against the threat of loss of future projects?
Auditing is a specialized field and should be treated as such, enforcement of network standards is paramount for the safety, reliably and future sustainability of the infrastructure. We already see distribution companies changing processes to have a more onerous and vigorous enforcement guideline and inspection process. This has forced inspection costs up and project costs up due to findings on these projects.

Human nature being what it is, with the threat of loss of future earnings can have a major detrimental impact on the final outcome for all.
Auditors must beyond reproach and apply integral standards and inspection practices based on a final outcome of safety, reliably for the asset and communities utilizing the asset. Not on a threat of future earnings for the respective company.
I cannot see this issue improving anytime soon. My comments are based on factual findings over many years and hundreds of practical experiences across all networks.
