Heading to IMARC 2026?

Come and meet Riley Hurlock at Stand U21.

Riley will be there talking through the technical side of remote power systems, including:

- what needs to stay online
- backup requirements
- critical loads
- remote monitoring
- system design
- how to reduce diesel without compromising reliability

If you’re working through how a system should actually be configured for site conditions, Riley will be a great person to speak with.

See you at Stand U21.

What does a Power Hub XL actually give you?

For someone building a medium to large home where connecting to the grid is too expensive or impractical, it gives you the ability to build the property you want without being constrained by the power supply.

The Power Hub XL can support:

⚡ Up to 15 kVA of inverter capacity
☀️ Up to 30 kW of solar
🔋 Up to 50 kWh of battery storage in the cabinet
🏠 Power distribution to the home, shed and external outlets
⛽ Generator integration and manual bypass

It’s also IP55 rated and includes temperature-controlled air conditioning to help protect the system in demanding Australian conditions.

In this walkthrough, James takes you through the cabinet, how the power moves through the system and the thinking behind the design.

There’s a lot happening behind the doors of a large off-grid system.

For this regional NSW project, the complete solution combines more than 76 kW of solar with:

⚡ 3 × Victron 15 kVA inverter/chargers
🔋 96 kWh of Pylontech battery storage
☀️ 2 × 20 kW Fronius solar inverters
⛽ 90 kVA generator backup

Each component has a job to do, but the important part is how they’re designed to work together as one system.

That becomes particularly important once you move into larger three-phase rural and commercial applications.

Can you run serious three-phase loads without a grid connection?

That’s exactly what the Power Hub Commercial is designed for.

Built for larger homes, farms, stations and other high-demand sites, a typical single-cabinet configuration can provide 20–30 kVA of three-phase inverter capacity, support up to 50 kW of solar, and house around 75 kWh of battery storage.

And if requirements grow, the modular design allows additional battery cabinets to be added later.

The cabinet is also IP55 rated, temperature controlled, generator-ready and remotely monitored through the Victron platform — with our external LED ring giving you a quick indication of battery level and whether the system is charging or discharging.

In this walkthrough, James takes you through the system and explains how it all comes together.

A simple setup, doing an important job. 💧

This installation is a good reminder that solar pumping doesn’t need to be overcomplicated.

When you need to move water on a rural property, a well-matched system can be a very practical solution.

What makes an off-grid system reliable?

It’s easy to focus on the size of the solar array or battery bank, but long-term reliability comes from how the entire system works together.

That means considering:

☀️ Solar production across the whole year
🔋 Usable battery capacity
⚡ Inverter capacity for pumps, tools and other peak loads
⛽ Generator backup and controls
🌡️ Heat, dust and the installation environment
📈 How the property may change over time

On a rural property, power demand can vary enormously depending on the season, the equipment being used and what’s happening around the property.

That’s why good off-grid design starts with understanding the site and how power is actually used.

We’ve put together a practical guide covering the main factors that influence off-grid reliability and what property owners should consider.

Off-grid just got better. Much better.

Going off-grid shouldn’t mean limiting what you can do with your property.

You might be building a larger home on a block where grid connection doesn’t make sense. You might be adding a shed, workshop, pumps or an EV later. Or you might be running a farm or commercial site where losing power simply isn’t an option.

That’s what the new generation of Commodore Power Hubs has been designed for.

More capacity for larger loads. Greater battery storage. Three-phase options for serious applications. Smarter monitoring so you can see how your system is performing remotely. And a modular design that can grow as your needs change.

We’ve also focused heavily on the things that matter once you’re actually living or working off-grid — temperature management, serviceability, generator integration and reliability over the long term.

The new range includes:

Power Hub 15 XL
Power Hub 20 Commercial
Power Hub 30 Commercial
Power Hub 45 Commercial
Power Hub 60 Commercial

Built in Shepparton. Tested before dispatch. Designed for demanding Australian conditions.

A substantial off-grid project recently completed for a long-established horticultural business in regional NSW. ⚡

The system brings together:

☀️ 76.44 kW of solar
🔋 96 kWh of battery storage
⚡ 45 kVA three-phase inverter capacity
⛽ 90 kVA generator backup

Designed to provide reliable, independent power for a large rural commercial site.

A great example of what off-grid power can look like when the application goes well beyond the average home.

Installation: Lehmann Electrical
