2026 was a vintage like no other.
A cool and windy growing season kept yields well below average and stretched ripening right into autumn. Our Riesling was finally picked late April, 3 weeks later than the previous two harvests.
Now in bottle, the 2026 Riesling is bright and aromatic, with lifted florals, fresh citrus and green apple, carried by that vibrant acidity we love in Tasmanian Riesling.

SHOOT THINNING | With spring well underway, we’re out in the vineyard thinning the new growth by hand.

We remove the shoots we don’t need, leaving more space and airflow around those that will carry this year’s fruit. It’s a slow job, but getting in early makes managing the canopy much easier later in the season.

During our recent trip to Italy, we had the privilege of visiting three producers we have long admired: Giuseppe Rinaldi and Chiara Boschis in Barolo, and Foradori in Trentino-Alto Adige.

Spending time in the vineyards and w**eries, tasting through their w**es and discussing viticulture and w**emaking was both inspiring and humbling. While we don't produce either Nebbiolo or Teroldego, the signature varieties of these producers, it was a great reminder that there's always something new to learn.

The weather’s rubbish, but at least the Truffle Toasty is back. Packed with gooey melted cheese and generous shavings of fresh truffle, it’s just the thing to warm you up. Only around while the truffle season lasts.

In January we welcomed Erin Larkin from the W**e Advocate to the cellar door to taste through our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir w**es.

We were delighted to recently see her reviews published, with some very positive comments across the range. It’s always rewarding to receive recognition for the hard work that goes into both the vineyard and w**ery.

Thank you Erin! 🙏

Over the last two weeks we’ve been busy harvesting fruit off our vineyard. This year we’re about three weeks later than last year and yields are anywhere between 50-70% down. Fortunately though, quality is exceptionally high. A cool, extended ripening period has delivered fruit with beautiful intensity of flavour, modest sugars and bright, natural acidity.

A small year, but a promising one!

“Serious Pinot Noir and a pretty impressive one at that.”

Thanks to Campbell Mattinson at The W**e Front for the generous words on our 2024 Pinot Noir.

“Bright cherry characters, boysenberry, potpourri and undergrowth… Mint in the highlights, cedar as an infusion. Tannin is of particular note: firm, integrated, and at one with the overall momentum of the w**e.”

Very proud of this release.

If you’ve been to the cellar door over the last three years then there is a good chance you’ve been looked after by our wonderful Kaila.

She’s played a huge part in making sure every guest leaves with not just great w**e, but a great experience.

We’re incredibly lucky to have her as part of the Moores Hill family.

We’ve been busy in the vineyard over the last month with shoot thinning. These photos give you an idea of the importance of the task. We’re opening up the canopy and the crown for better air flow, light infiltration and fungicide application. It also helps reduces the amount of wounds made during pruning next year.
