Harry the hirer Productions just bought a JBL Professional VTX A-Series line array following a comprehensive purchase and evaluation process.

What was their process?
Step one: get the JBL VTX A Series demo rig into your own warehouse, tune it flat next to the rig you already own, and listen.
Step two: take it to a real show — in this case Hyrox at Sydney Showground.
Step three: place the order: 24 x VTX A8, 20 x B18 subs and four Crown VRack systems.
A week after delivery, it was on the Main Stage at AFL Grand Final Toyota Footy Fest at the MCG, up and tuned in about three and a half hours.

FoH engineer Will Petts’ verdict after a weekend of announcements, MCs and music: “Straight out of the box, it’s done exactly what we hoped it would and more. The throw is incredible.”

Congratulations to the Harry’s team on a great addition to the inventory — and thanks for letting us be part of it from the first listen to the last tune.

Thinking about a line array? We’ll bring the demo to you. Link in comments for the full story.

USB-C fixed the connector problem at the desk. It didn't fix distance. Native USB-C reaches 3–5 metres, and most rooms need far more. The usual workaround is a video extender, a USB extender, a powered hub and a dock: four boxes, four failure points.

The Icron Arbutus 63301 sends 4Kp60 4:4:4 video (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) from one USB-C port, both at once, over a single standard CAT 6a cable up to 100m. You get one port at the source, one cable in the wall and one box at each end.

To mark the launch, we're taking $350 off the Arbutus 63301 until 24 December 2026.

Ceiling speakers get judged on two things: whether you can hear them clearly, and whether you can see them.

The JBL Professional Control 400 Series is built to get both right. You get clear, consistent audio from a speaker that sits quietly in a modern ceiling instead of competing with it.

The Enhanced Coverage models use JBL's Coplanar Radiation Boundary Integrator™ (CRBI™) technology to spread sound smoothly across a wide listening area. That means fewer hot spots under the grille, fewer dead spots between speakers, and the same experience wherever someone sits in the room.

The result is intelligible audio that keeps everyone in the room connected. The best ceiling speakers aren't the ones people notice. They're the ones people never have to think about.

Talk to our team about the right Control 400 model for your next project.

Comedy gigs are one of the tougher gigs in live sound. There's no band, no wall of sound to fill the room — just a microphone and a performer.

Every word needs to land clearly, and if a punchline gets lost in a muddy mix, it's gone. That's exactly the kind of challenge Elite Event Technology stepped up to recently, taking their JBL Professional VTX A-Series out on the road for some of Bill Bailey's Australian dates.

At Wollongong Entertainment Centre, Elite ran a combination of VTX A12 and A8 line array boxes, A6s for fill, and B28 subs for the low end, all powered by Crown I-Tech 4x3500HDS amplification.

Bill's show is part stand-up, part live music, so the system needed to handle both, keeping speech natural and clear in the quiet moments, and having the headroom when he picked up an instrument. By all accounts it covered every seat in the house. The A6 fills also found a second purpose as a footrest for Bill!

"Elite have put serious investment into the VTX A-Series and it was great to see it out on a run like this," said Peter Kubow of MadisonAV. "Comedy is one of the hardest tests for a PA, if the vocal isn't clear, there's nothing to cover for it. The Elite crew knew the system inside out and Wollongong showed that. We're really proud to support them, from onsite support the gear and the training behind it."

A big thanks to Elite Event Technology for having us involved, we're looking forward to seeing the system out on some other shows of the tour.

Great to see the team at Elite Event Technology getting their JBL Professional VTX A-Series system out for a Bill Bailey show at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre. Where will the A-Series pop up next?

Three things Integrate told us:

1. Auracast has stopped being a future conversation.
The Bettear and AUDIOropa corner didn't have a quiet moment in three days. The difference this year was the question - fewer "What is Auracast," more "what does the deployment logic actually look like".

2. BSS OMNI is more than a DSP conversation.
Announced globally at InfoComm 2026, shown for the first time in Australia at Integrate. OMNI now brings audio, video and control under one software layer in AVX Suite.

3. This ceiling speaker made people stop.
The JBL Control 400 Series is built around the detail that's easy to miss - stronger hardware, cleaner cable entry and fewer small parts to loose on site.

Couldn't make it to Integrate, or catch every feature? We've pulled together the product highlights and videos so you can relive the show from your own desk - https://loom.ly/ZJTgi0Y
