Did you receive this letter in the mail?

Is this our chance to be heard?

We all know this has been a journey and this page has been quiet for sometime as it’s all been “too hard”.

We are all still feeling the same pain of not being heard and no reception, nothing has changed!

I’m not getting my hopes up but happy to keep fighting the fight!

If you didn’t receive the letter please visit Zoe’s page as the more we support Zoe’s cause the more chance we have.

Fingers crossed

Message from Eric Collier. Please get in touch with Eric

Have you got poor or non-existent mobile phone reception in Somerville? Or no reception at all? I'd like to hear from you!

There is a planning application with the Shire for a new phone tower in Webbs Lane Somerville. However there are objections to the proposal, which are putting this proposed service improvement at risk.

I am meeting with the Shire to put forward a case on behalf of those who don't have a decent mobile phone service. If you are in this position, could you please DM me with your location. (Please note, I will not be using any personal details, and will only mention your general area, for example "Bay Vista Rise area")

It's about time that we had a mobile service that works. Currently, we are worse off than many third world countries. At the moment, I can't even call an ambulance if I need one.

Thanks for your time.

BAD MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION IN SOMERVILLE

Good morning Somervilleans,

Can you relate to that headline? If so, we need your help.

There is a possible solution on the table. Council are currently considering an application for a new mobile phone tower in the Pottery Rd/Webbs Lane area. However the application has received 18 objections, probably from people who already have excellent mobile phone reception and haven't considered the rest of us. They've probably also used that lie about "mobile phone towers causing disease", which was scientifically disproved a long time ago.

Council are broadly aware of isolated instances of poor reception in Somerville, but are not aware of how widespread the problem is. When Council look at Telstra's coverage map, they are left with the false impression that there is already good mobile phone coverage across the town.

We need to inform Council about how many people are affected by poor mobile phone reception, and the areas that are affected. If you'd like to see improvements to your mobile service, then you need to ACT NOW and email the Council Planning Department as follows:

[email protected]
Attention: Mr Graham Scott, Planner,
Somerville Mobile Phone Tower Application P22/1434

Please tell them who you are, and the location where you live or work where you have mobile phone reception problems. We need to demonstrate to Council that there is a widespread problem, so that they make their final decision in the knowledge that any proposal to upgrade mobile phone reception in Somerville would benefit a lot of people.

Please don't leave it to someone else. Do it now. This may be your last chance to ever get better reception, because no service provider will make application for a new tower in the future where it is known they'll receive objections.

OVER TO YOU!

(Please share widely with others who may have bad reception. Thanks for your time.)

Today I had an opportunity to meet with Zoe McKenzie, Briony Hutton, Neale Burgess and Matthew Head (Greg Hunt’s Office).

It was brought to my attention by Zoe that Somerville is approved for an NBN upgrade, which will be completed by 2023. Did you already know about this?

https://www.greghunt.com.au/faster-fibres-new-fibre-optic-nbn-upgrades-around-the-mornington-peninsula/

Neale suggested a plan to get the Telcos to work together and come up with a suitable solution for Somerville and the area. I will now work with the relevant people to try and get this to happen.

Stay positive everyone and let’s keep supporting each other!

As part of the Commonwealth Governments plan to provide Australians with fast, affordable and high bandwidth internet, the National Broadband Network Company (NBN Co) has announced that eligible premises in parts of the Mornington Peninsula Shire will be included in the third tranche of the NBN......

What’s everyone thoughts?

Where do we go now, personally I think we have just been pushed to the side once again and nothing is going to change!
