Health waiver

Some visas have a health waiver which allow the applicants to still be granted a visa, in the event they may not pass a health exam.

A health waiver is a process that requires evidence, reasons for compassionate considerations and proof your application will contribute to Australia’s interests.

Learn more: Training visa (Subclass 407)

What is a training visa?
This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia (Department of Home Affairs, 2024).

Some things to keep in mind:
- The Employer needs to have financial capacity to be able to sponsor the applicant and pay a market equivalent salary based on experience (with no minimum quoted).

- They should be able to provide study assistance and help workers gain the knowledge and qualifications required to get a 482 visa. The key hallmark for this visa is a very detailed training plan.

- The Trainee needs to have 12 months of work/study experience within the last 24 months before the nomination is lodged.

- The worker needs to also have functional English ability, medical insurance and complete health and character checks.

- Applicants with too much work experience would not suit this category

Be updated on changes to minimum salary of 482 work visas (specialist skills) from $135,000 to $141,210 as 1 July 2025. This means, at this salary, an applicant can be sponsored for any occupation. There is also faster processing for this type. By offering a lower salary, prepare for slower wait times and less generous criteria.
