Some of the most meaningful work happens when you slow down, spend time on Country and just listen.

This week, Grounded ImpactGrounded Impact's Fran Haintz GAICD and Rose Whitau had the privilege of spending time on Yindjibarndi Country with Michael Woodley, Lorraine Coppin and their family as part of our ongoing work with Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation.

Being on Country provided an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Juluwarlu's vision for protecting, preserving and celebrating Yindjibarndi language, culture, history and knowledge. Hearing stories firsthand, sharing conversations and experiencing the places that hold such cultural significance reinforces why this work matters.

Juluwarlu's commitment to ensuring future generations inherit a strong cultural legacy is inspiring. It is a reminder that language, stories and cultural knowledge are not simply records of the past they are living foundations for identity, wellbeing and self-determination.

A heartfelt thank you to Michael and Lorraine for your generosity, hospitality and leadership. Your willingness to share your knowledge, perspectives and aspirations makes our work stronger and ensures that every step is guided by community priorities and cultural authority.

We are honoured to support Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation and the Yindjibarndi Nation as they continue their important work to preserve language, culture and history for future generations.

Another fantastic meeting of our Nyiyaparli Health and Wellbeing Project Steering Committee was held in Perth last week. Great to have new committee members Kevin Nelson and Peter Yuline there too- even if it was cold!!🖤

At this meeting the committee confirmed details for:

🍀 interim temporary accommodation options until the Healing Centre is finished
🍀 community and family health education, prevention and care programs for delivery in Hedland (to start!)
🍀 correspondence to the Health Department to outline the need for improvements to Aboriginal Health care and collaborate ways to make those improvements (based on Nyiyaparli feedback)

Committee representatives will also be sharing information with Nyiyaparli beneficiaries at next Thursday's community meeting. 🖤
