Former Rex executive chair Lim Kim Hai has admitted the accusations levelled at him by the corporate watchdog in the NSW Supreme Court.
"Mr Lim, former deputy chair John Sharp and directors Lincoln Pan and Siddharth Khotkar had collectively planned to contest the charges until Mr Lim made the admission during the morning court session. The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) brought the case against Mr Lim and three other Rex directors. ASIC Connect

In its case against Lim and three other former Rex directors, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) said Lim had approved a market update in February 2023 saying Rex was “optimistic” about a full-year profit despite knowing the airline was on track for a loss.

Across the Aviation industry there is scant comprehensive data about the long-term health effects of fume events on crew. That has left and at a stalemate.

One side argues there isn’t a medical definition for "aerotoxic syndrome”. The other fears that they are at the tip of another endemic workplace illness that takes decades to gain recognition, such as asbestosis or silicosis.

World Pilots’ Day in Istanbul, Where It Began!

Today, on World Pilots’ Day, we are proud to be in Istanbul, Türkiye, with TALPA (Turkiye Airline Pilots' Association) where this global celebration was first established and is now recognised by pilots around the world.

This Conference has highlighted the professionalism, dedication, and responsibility carried by pilots everywhere, and the shared commitment to safety that unites our profession.

This week’s key message has been the importance of Positive Safety Culture, creating an environment where pilots can report hazards, incidents, and honest mistakes openly, so the entire aviation system can learn and improve.

When pilots are empowered to speak up, aviation becomes safer for everyone.

Today we celebrate pilots. Tomorrow, we continue the work of strengthening the culture that keeps aviation safe.

The International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA) has expressed growing concerns over the lack of protections for pilots who refuse to fly through high risk areas. It has called for greater legal safeguards for who decline flying in regions deemed unsafe such as the Middle East ... The AFAP has echoed concerns from other countries, urging to prioritize pilot safety over operational concerns.

US joins India, Australia, Canada, UAE, France, and Germany in tackling airline pilots' fear of retaliation for refusing flights in the Middle East.

As developments continue to unfold in the Middle East, aviation safety, coordination, and timely communication remain critical.

The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East Region following announcements of significant military activity.

Global air traffic is already affected by airspace restrictions and rerouting, particularly for flights transiting the region between Europe and destinations in Asia and the Pacific.

IFALPA has several active Member Associations in the region and stands ready to support any Member Association (MA) whose pilots may be affected. We encourage any MA requiring assistance to contact the Federation. IFALPA will use all available resources to provide timely guidance, coordination, and professional support as needed.

The Federation will continue to monitor developments closely and engage with relevant authorities and industry stakeholders to assess and address any implications for flight safety, security, and operational resilience.

The Professional & Government Affairs Committee met in Cairo last week. Chair of the PGA Committee Rob Close represented AFAP pilots in discussions on global trends in collective bargaining and industrial relations.

The PGA Committee also takes pilot voices to ICAO, the ILO and the ITF and is working with these organisations to ensure that good pilot jobs are protected as the industry develops.

The attendees also recorded a video of support for Lufthansa pilot members of Vereinigung Cockpit who began extensive industrial action during the meeting.

GNSS Radio Frequency Interference & Signal Manipulation:
Emerging & Unknown Impacts on Aircraft Systems

GNSS Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), including jamming and spoofing, is increasing worldwide and can occur without warning. These events can degrade or manipulate navigation and timing data, affecting multiple aircraft systems, including some not previously recognised as GNSS-dependent. The potential for unexpected and cascading system effects highlights the need for heightened vigilance and conservative operations whenever GNSS anomalies are suspected. Please read this Safety Bulletin and share widely.
