Driving in Bad Weather.
Avoid travel if you can today with high winds, heavy rain and flooding overnight affecting roads and public transport across the state.
Crews are working hard to clear roads and repair damage to infrastructure.
Just some of the major road disruptions across the state include:
Closures in place on the Black Spur between Healesville and Narbethong due to trees across the road.
The Great Alpine Road is closed between Bruthen and Ensay due to a landslip.
There is significant flooding on the Princes Highway and surrounding roads through Traralgon.
The Moorooduc Highway is closed southbound in Moorooduc between Bentons Road and Craigie Road due to a large tree on the road.
There is a tree down on The Maroondah Highway in Coldstream at Maxwells Road.
Power outages have affected a number of traffic lights particularly in Croydon, Mooroolbark and Ringwood. Please approach intersections with care. Treat the intersection like you would a stop or give way sign.
A tree has come down on power lines in Burnley on Swan Street at Madden Grove affecting Route 70 trams. Police are on scene.
Heavy rainfall has caused delays for Vline services with a tree across the track in Macedon. Coaches are replacing trains between Kyneton and Southern Cross. Coaches are also replacing trains between Traralgon and Bairnsdale due to flooding across the tracks.
On the Metropolitan network, crews are working to remove a tree that has fallen across the train tracks near Croydon. Buses are replacing trains on the Lilydale Line between Ringwood and Lilydale.
Extra care should be taken on platforms and when boarding and getting off public transport, as surfaces can become slippery.
Emergency services are currently assessing damage any may need to close roads at short notice. Detour routes may not be suitable for all vehicles and will likely add considerable time and distance to journeys.
Leave extra space between you and the car in front, as braking distances increase in wet conditions.
Headlights should be on, and extra vigilance is required for cyclists and motorbikes which are harder to see.
Never enter flood water. The water could be deeper than expected and the road surface may be damaged underneath.
Victorians are allowed to move beyond the current travel limits to escape an emergency situation, regardless of current Covid restrictions.
