The Community Engagement Award, sponsored by Live Event Logistics Pty Ltd, celebrates a manager who has shown great leadership and initiative within their music community, and whose contribution to the wider industry has gone above and beyond their duties as an artist manager. We’re thrilled to reveal our 2024 winner, Kerry Kennell.
Kerry is a proud Torres Strait Islander with cultural connection to Ugar and Erub, Kerry is an artist manager, lawyer, facilitator and sole director of her company, Kennell&Co Impact Consulting + Strategy. Kerry holds a Bachelor of Law, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, a Certificate 4 in Business, and is an alumnus of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the MURRA Business Program. Kerry is also an accredited facilitator in DISC, Driving Forces and Emotional Quotient with TTI Success. Kerry has been a manager since 2018 formerly to Alice Skye, Kiwat Kennell and Key Hoo. Kerry has been on a break from MGMT since February 2024 while she completes the Atlantic Fellowship Program at The University of Melbourne. Kerry is researching the success and struggles of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander musicians in Australian contemporary music, she will graduate with a Masters in Social Change Leadership in November 2024. Kerry holds roles as former Board Member and Chairperson of Music Victoria 2020-2024 and Board Member of the Association of Artist Managers 2022, she also offers pro bono mentoring to Indigenous creatives in need.
