✨ROOMING ACCOMMODATION UPDATE ✨

**Great news for housing in Queensland!** 🏡

The State Government has announced a further 12-month extension of the rooming accommodation provisions, now in place until 2 December 2026. This extension aims to support continued housing supply and help address the challenges many communities across Queensland are facing. 🤝

This additional time also gives local governments a clear window to review and amend their planning schemes to include locally responsive rooming accommodation provisions — if they choose to do so. 🗂️

🌿 New landscaping requirements have also been introduced into Schedule 6 of the Planning Regulation for rooming accommodation developments. These refinements help improve the regulation of small-scale rooming accommodation and dwelling houses in lower-density residential zones, providing state-wide consistency in the types of housing that can be expected. 🏘️

⚠️ Please note: These amendments do not remove the need for other required approvals, including building, plumbing, drainage, registration and accreditation needed to legally operate rooming accommodation in Queensland. 📝

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully secured development approval for a brand-new Padel Tennis Centre at The Hub Community Centre on Highland Way, Upper Coomera! 🎾

This fantastic project will deliver **four high-quality padel courts** for public use, providing a valuable new sporting and recreational facility for the community 🙌 and further enhancing the range of activities available at The Hub.

Our team is proud to have used its extensive knowledge and expertise in navigating sport and recreation developments through the planning system to achieve this great outcome 💼✨

Now’s the time to have your say to help guide future development in Logan!

Logan City Council have placed their draft planning scheme on deposit for a 9 week period from today until Friday 31 October.

During this 9 week period there are more than 50 engagement events planned in different areas of the city including feature events such as:

• Town Hall with Logan’s Mayor Jon Raven on Tuesday 9 September from 6:30pm at the Jimboomba State School hall (and online facebook event Wed 3 Sep 6:30 pm)

• 2 public expos at the Logan Art Gallery on Thursday 18 September between 4 pm and 7 pm, and Saturday 11 October between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.

🎉 APPROVED: 24/7 GYM HOUR OPERATIONS IN BURLEIGH! 🏋️‍♀️🕒

We’re excited to share that Grummitt Town Planning has successfully secured a development approval for this stunning gym in Burleigh to operate 24/7! The Gym Burleigh💪✨

Originally restricted by earlier planning conditions that the previous town planning consultant obtained, the new owners saw an opportunity to evolve with changing consumer demand and expand the services — and we were proud to help make that vision a reality for our client.

With our team’s expertise and deep understanding of local planning frameworks (and the unique needs of fitness businesses), we were able to navigate the approval process and deliver the outcome they needed.

And just quietly… the space is absolutely beautiful 😍 — if it was closer to me, I’d be training there daily!

For those interested in development within Ipswich, Council have just placed their draft new planning scheme on public consultation. There are some great, user friendly resources to help understand the scheme and proposed changes. Submissions can be made until 16th July.

If any clients are interested to see how the proposed amendments affect their property/sites or wish to make submissions to the draft scheme to facilitate development, feel free to get in touch with us where we will gladly take a look at the review on your behalf.

This is the best time for making submissions to Council on rezoning, increased densities etc. Don't miss the deadline.

It's been a long time in the making, but the amendments to the Gold Coast City Plan have finally been accepted by the State.

More info to come on final adoption date and what this means for the City and future developments.

Interesting article regarding granny flats (secondary dwellings) to be allowed to be rented out in a short term attempt to address the State's housing crisis. It seems that other normal planning/building requirements will still need to be met, such as car parking, fire regulations, building approval etc. More details to follow.

Home owners who have granny flats will be allowed to rent them out over the next three years under emergency planning changes to alleviate the housing crisis.
