Taking a bit of B-roll footage and a voice note from a far-away airport, to test “Transmissions” for

One of the reasons why Alex has Hailer onboard is because he’s built his career, his lifestyle, and his production company around off-grid adventures, and he needs a hand on the tiller when he’s gone off the map. Case in point: two weeks sailing, surfing and fishing around New Caledonia on a friend’s catamaran at the end of last year. The skipper had posted this single-shot cutaway of the boat at anchor near an idyllic reef pass, and Alex had sent a voice note on his way to his next project, and the first he knew of the Transmissions concept was when we dropped this for him.
And there’s more to come.

Sometimes social content and YouTube shorts are just about taking what you’ve got or what you can get, and coming up with an achievable and repeatable format.

And sometimes the answer is sitting right there in your inbox.

Struggling for ideas? Let’s talk.

Surfboard Hydrodynamics: What’s Really Happening Beneath Your Board?

Yes, those are black and neon pink ribbons stuck to the bottom of ‘s surfboard. This piece has been in the works for a good long time, and being planned in Harry’s head for even longer. But it’s finally live for you to get stuck into on Surf Simply Magazine.

The truth is, there’s precious little real-life science out there about how water actually flows under a surfboard (with water moving up the face of the wave and the board moving sideways across that face), and being as inquisitive and scientifically-minded as he is, Surf Simply’s Director of Coaching wanted to put that right and put an end to speculation and educated guesswork. Thanks to and their in-water photographer , we managed to capture some groundbreaking imagery, prove Harry’s hypothesis (and corroborate that with one of the world’s leading authorities on computational fluid dynamics), and have a damn good time doing it. Hopefully, there’s an academic out there who can take his idea and really run with it. In the meantime check out what we did, why we did it, what we found out and wrap your eyeballs around all the images, at surf simply dot com slash magazine.

Some of the most dazzling sea creatures are only the size of a grain of rice, but damn straight will be able to point them out to you*. Case in point: Blue-rayed limpets. Just look at the colour of those stripes!

Find out more about these kelp-loving, iridescent little beauties over on ’ latest Fact File article 💎

*Yes, they’re as difficult to photograph whilst floating in the mouth of a sea cave as they are to find in the first place.

Yesterday, Thursday June 1st, marked the first day of meteorological summer ☀️ We start as we mean to go on eh, !

It was another great day capturing photos from in-water and on-land of their sea kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and coasteering sessions, as well as some of the abundant bird life nesting on the cliffs at this time of year. Also went looking for golf balls and the story behind that mystery and how it was solved will be going live next week 👀

For the second year running, have measured and offset their small carbon footprint (for their 2022 season), and made an equivalent donation to a marine environment charity working on the restoration of vital sea grass habitats.

You can read all about how they’ve minimised the environmental impact of their operations, and why they chose to support a “blue carbon” project to go beyond carbon neutral and become climate positive, over on their blog.

This all happened last month, but just this week announced the news that St Austell Bay has been found to support one of the largest subtidal seagrass beds in the UK (covering 887 acres). Seagrass meadows are super effective carbon sinks, however they are fragile ecosystems and currently cover only 0.1% of the ocean floor. It’s vital that we protect, restore and regenerate them.

Hello 🙋‍♂️ Mat (founder) here. I’m quickly sticking my head above the parapet to share the news that I’m going to be speaking at Building Brands] marketing conference in Plymouth this May, running a morning workshop with a focus on content marketing. What I’ll actually be sharing are what I believe to be the accessible and scaleable core principles of brand storytelling and content marketing strategy, and how to use them. More of a “start here, work backwards, take what works for you and run with it” than a step by step how-to about the latest flash-in-the-pan platform.

If you’ve been considering getting in touch with us to enquire about Hailer’s coaching and consultancy offering, you could probably save yourself a few quid by getting a ticket to this instead 😬

Never mind all that, though. The rest of the line-up of speakers announced for the day looks excellent and if it turns out to be anything like last year’s event it will be a really informative and useful day. So, if all or part of your job involves marketing in any which-way, then get yourself one of the few remaining tickets via the link in Building Brands] profile.

Ok, sorry for interrupting your feed with a photo of my face. The content you’ve come to expect from Hailer can now resume 👍

It’s all yours to explore with , who have just kicked off their 18th season sharing scenes like this along the North Cornish coast. Get out on the water with them this year and find out for yourself why they’ve been at the top of their game for so long.

‘ film TWIN, dir. , has its world premiere at the Gala Closing night of tonight, and head shaper will be there raffling off a replica of his board from the film (second slide) to raise money for charity.

Hailer’s spoke to Sharpy and Markie about their “little very long term project” and got the story of their “as good as it gets” slab session with in Ireland, lost surfboards and confiscated cameras on a strike mission to Morocco, and how created the soundtrack. You can read it now over on the scrapbook journal.

And if you’re in the ‘don this evening then get along to on Mile End Road to check it out, alongside a lineup of other equally excellent films. And get yourself a raffle ticket to win that orange Humbucker. Good luck!
