Hey Peeps
Happy 2024. So we are still here and fully operating. Been super busy. This build you see here we have been working on late last year and only just got dyno time yesterday.
Before I get asked a million questions about the power levels. Here’s some facts to put into concept. Firstly we build to customer specifications and budget. Secondly we always advise on what will work and what will potentially not work( or cause issues). Thirdly intake blower manifold, 6/71 pro comp supercharger( which I serviced due to some minor issues), twin Holley 600cfm Vac carbys ( boost referenced in-house plus full overhaul) and a Proflow Bosch distributor ( which was locked out, but major issues)supplied by customer. Forth yes customer has agreed to go ahead with the changes after seeing what we told them would happen with some parts that were supplied to us for this build
So quick run down of what this setup is:
Holden 304
Bored 40tho ( due to limited forged pistons availability)
VS spike rods with upgrade 7/16 ARP rod bolts
Closed and hone big ends
Factory stroke VS crank( with 1/4 woodruff key slot machined)
Full balance rotating assembly
Half grout block
PAVTEK main girdle
ARP main studs
Aeroflow high volume sump( customised windage tray for clearance issues with PAVTEK main girdle
JP standard oil pump
Rollmaster dual timing chain kit
ROMAC blower harmonic balancer( dual key- 3/16 & 1/4)
Modified factory timing cover( to suite blower harmonic balancer)
Oil modified on cam tunnel #1 and #4
Custom CrowCam blower solid cam
238/[email protected] 114LSA plus lifters/pushrods and valve train components
Yella Terra Pro street Adj. shaft mount rockers 1.65ratio
Pocket port Holden VS cast iron cylinder heads
3 angle valve job
S/S intake and exhaust Valves 2.02 & 1.60
MSD BTM-6, MSD pro billet distributor ( to be installed once I receive new blower manifold) and MSD blaster 2 coil
Plus much, much more to list but you guys want hear and see the numbers. So it was a true test with what we had to work with. The block itself is pretty good for up to 600F/hp. Unfortunately the best we got was 390hp@5350rpm with 6psi (due to Air Intake temps getting up there) as well as (as timing was erratic jumping from 21 static up 26/28 and down 22 and up to 30 before slowing coming down 16 on short power runs to be safe)
There will be another video( Part 2) to come once new components are installed to replace old ones.
Also if you look at the graph of the power run, everything was still climbing but to make sure we don’t hurt anything kept under 5500rpm. This whole setup is good for up to 6500/6800rpm ( once the new components are fitted- Holley 750 DP boost referenced carbys, Newby blower manifold and the MSD Pro billet we have already in stock.
Overall the customer had learnt a valuable lesson.
