Just like that, our 2024 year comes to an end! On that, we're reflecting on an incredible year packed with our most events ever and record-breaking event attendance! 🎉

As the year winds down, we want to give a huge thanks to our 2024 Executive Team for all their hard work and dedication.

This year, they’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes, bringing you more events and content than ever. From massive industry events to fun social events, each success was fueled by a true passion for making the student experience better. Late nights, countless coffees, stacks of pizza, and endless determination helped deliver our best year yet!

We are so proud to share, that TH&E Society took out the award for Best Club in the BEL Faculty, at the UQU Clubs and Societies Awards Night last week!

This would not have been possible without the support of our amazing industry partners who are vital in making our society as successful as it is. Their time in helping connect with us students is so valuable, and greatly appreciated.

This is award truly a testament to all the incredible work from the team, delivering a range of professional and social events. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.

A huge thankyou to all our students and members who engaged with our society this year. You are the reason we create these opportunities, so we hope you took something from them!

💛Introducing your 2025 TH&E Executive Team💚

Last night at our AGM, our members gathered to elect our new executive team members for 2025! A huge congratulations to our new executives, you have an incredible year ahead of you! They will be at our end of semester drinks next Thursday, so here is you best opportunity to meet them ahead of 2025!

This year, two of our Executive Team members were fortunate to be part of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council Young Professionals Mentoring Program. Held over a six-month period, the program provides an opportunity for the next generation of tourism professionals to grow personally and professionally with the guidance of industry leaders.

Luke Harding was guided by Rhona Stewart from the Department of Tourism and Sport, and Xi Luo was mentored by Jimmy Barker from Emporium Hotels. Meeting regularly throughout the mentoring period, they discussed industry insights, career progression, and personal development. This experience helped them find clarity on current challenges and consider the next steps in their careers.

A huge thank you to the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and The University of Queensland for supporting this program. We highly encourage students in their final year, as well as alumni who are now young professionals, to get involved in the program next year!
