🚨 SMOKE ALARM GOING OFF RANDOMLY? 🏠

For tenants, a smoke alarm sounding doesn’t always mean there’s a fire — but always check for fire or smoke first. 🔥

If there is any sign of fire or danger, get everyone to safety and call 000 immediately.

If there’s no sign of fire:

🔴 1. Find the alarm that is flashing red
Check each smoke alarm in your home. The alarm that triggered will usually have a red light flashing and may be beeping.

🔵 2. Press the HUSH button
Once you identify the alarm, press the HUSH button to temporarily silence it.

💨 3. Check for common causes
Dust, steam from showers, cooking fumes and insects can sometimes cause false alarms. Keep the area ventilated and avoid directing steam or smoke towards the alarm.

🔧 4. Keeps happening?
If the alarm continues to activate randomly, please contact your property manager or landlord so the alarm can be checked.

👉 Don’t ignore a smoke alarm. Always investigate first and make sure your home is safe.

🚨 2027 Queensland Smoke Alarm Regulations | Only 4 Months to Go! 🚨

🏠 From 1 January 2027, all homes in Queensland must comply with the latest smoke alarm regulations. ✨

⚠️ Non-compliance may result in a maximum penalty of 5 penalty units! 💰 At the current rate of $172.70 per penalty unit, this means a maximum fine of $863.50!

🏠 Your home insurance may also be affected if your smoke alarms are not compliant. If a fire unfortunately occurs, non-compliant smoke alarms may impact your insurance claim, depending on your policy and insurer.

❗ Important: The fine is not simply calculated per smoke alarm. However, if your home requires 8 smoke alarms, you must ensure that all 8 are installed and fully compliant, rather than only installing some of them.

🔥 Compliant smoke alarms must:
✅ Be photoelectric and comply with AS 3786-2014
✅ All required smoke alarms must be interconnected
✅ Be hardwired with battery backup, or use a 10-year non-removable lithium battery
✅ Be installed in every bedroom, hallways connecting bedrooms, and on every storey in the required locations

⚠️ 不符合規定可能面臨最高 5 個 penalty units 的罰款！💰 以目前每個 penalty unit $172.70 計算，最高罰款約 $863.50！還有您的住家保險、可能會因為您沒有安裝煙霧警報器、如果不幸發生火災而不能理賠。

❗ 注意：罰款並不是以「每一個煙霧警報器」簡單乘算。 如果您的住宅需要安裝 8 個煙霧警報器，也代表您必須確保 8 個全部符合規定，而不是只安裝其中幾個。

🔥 合規煙霧警報器必須：
