Imagine working in your dream job... πŸ’«

Where you are welcomed in the door daily to a beaming smile from the receptionist 🌈

You are asked about your weekend πŸ€”

With actual eye contact 😲

Where you make yourself an espresso coffee from a β€˜real’ automated coffee machine... πŸ₯Ί

And an endless bowl of those chocolate covered coffee bean thingys that make you feel alive...😳

In a groovy lunch room with a ping pong table and relaxation pods and comfy lounges surrounded by walls of bright inspirational, colorful artwork and a fruit bowl ...🀩

And a bathroom with super soft loo paper and those smelly things that remind you that you might just be in a day spa...

Imagine being encouraged to break regularly, because β€œYour creative juices flow more with a rested mind”...πŸ€ͺ

Your ideas are welcomed, encouraged, implemented and acknowledged with reward...πŸ€—

Your hours are flexible around your family, and work-from-home options are abundant and encouraged ...πŸ₯°

Because. Kids. ❀️

Your energy is matched by your peers...🀣

You are offered training and professional development and mindset coaching...πŸ€“

Because they also want the BEST version of YOU! πŸ’ͺ

And just because you are a part of the workplace β€˜family’...πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ€β€πŸ‘¨πŸ»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ€β€πŸ‘¨πŸ»

A Culture.

Imagine feeling a part of something bigger than yourself...πŸ¦–

Your skills and experience are recognized and you are promoted based on your meritπŸ₯‡

Not on your sexπŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
Your age πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
Your race πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
Or s**t... your starsign πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Imagine working in an organization where work is no longer a means for a weekly paycheque ... πŸ’Έ

But a place you get your cup filled... β˜•οΈ

Every. Single. Day.

Imagine if the above was a possibility in your workplace?

These Culture Curated organisations DO exist.

And my personal mission is to curate and saturate many more.

Imagine...
Their productivity levels? βš™οΈ
Their staff retention? βœ‹
Their profitability? πŸ’°
This is what I do. ☝️

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART ❀️

I get those tingly lips and tongue feelings when my body tells me what I just ate, does not agree. πŸ‘„

I love how I’ve learnt over the years to listen to my body. πŸ€—

What came next was listening to my heart. πŸ™‰

This, I admit, took a little bit more work to master. πŸ€”

Heads and Hearts aren’t always agreeable friends. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

Our generations’ upbringing were always taught to follow what the head says...πŸ₯Έ

But I’m sure that was just a pass down from the baby boomers...
(I mean no disrespect).πŸ‘¨β€πŸ¦³πŸ‘΅

BB’s had no room for heart felt decision making during the depression, large families, and the added anxiety of loved ones at war.πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Our generation does ☺️
Thanks to our forefathers πŸ™

They fought the battles that enslaved leaders of men to rule with their head, when all along they should have lead with their heart. ❀️

Imagine the peace if we always lead with our heart? 🧑

My heart tells me...❀️

We are enough 🧑
We are the change we need 🧑
We are in control of own future🧑
We are all divinely connected 🧑
We are all here for purpose 🧑

Today I choose to lead with my heart, and give thanks to our forefathers who had no choice but to lead with their head...πŸ₯°

Thank you for gifting us the freedom to be able to make these choices. πŸ™

BIGGER BETTER FASTER HARDER....

I was always that kid up the back row that would cop a piece of chalk in the side of my head coz I wasn't listening to my teacher πŸ™„

πŸ‘‰I would get half way through an assignment, choose to ignore the instructions and take it on a whole new path.

πŸ‘‰I wrote more than required, I sourced more information, and completed within record time.

πŸ‘‰In my mind, my assignments were awesome.

πŸ‘‰They were colourful, and punchy and so full of life.

πŸ‘‰Besides, the topic given was always boring.

πŸ”₯I just wanted to make it fun.πŸ”₯

But I usually didn't get the A’s I strived for. Coz I didn't follow the instructions.

Bright shinny lights 🌟

My Easter hat was always the biggest, brightest and most dynamic out of all my friends.

I wondered why nobody else got into making larger than life top hats, colouring outside of the lines, and taking the project to next level.

Maths was boring, and could be so better explained, if it was just drawn in pictures.

Or colour.
Or both.

So when I shared this idea with my conforming maths teacher, he laughed in my face and told me I would never amount to anything if I didn’t follow the rules πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Still to this day, I day dream out the window…

My projects are always full of colour, energy and love.

And my maths calculations are always explained in pictures.
My spreadsheets in colour and full of hi-lights.

My β€˜rule breaking’ attitude shaped my life.

It actually helped me become a contingency planner, a multi-tasker and question asker.

βœ… It also helped me become an award winning Business Trainer.

βœ… And an award winning Business owner.

Because I understood my students first hand, who had learning barriers.

And because I understood my clients who wanted MORE.

I always knew there was another way.

After years of my poor young busy mind being suppressed into beliefs that served me no real purpose, I can say, as an evolving adult, and mum of three + three, equally creative boys, I now acknowledge and encourage, the life they bring to their learnings.

Talent vs Attitude

At 14, my part time school job was working for a major fast food chain.

I was terrified to use a till and count back change after each sale.

At the end of my first shift, I was thrown into dishwater with peas and gravy, for β€˜initiation’.

Followed up with being locked in the cold room with no shoes and a wet uniform for a few scary teeth chattering minutes.

I guess because I didn’t cry, I got offered the part time gig and upgraded to trainee status.

βœ… An example of Attitude before Talent.

At 17, my mum employed me twice (and sacked me twice) as an apprentice hairdresser.

I didn’t pass 2nd year, because I threw a comb at a client, telling her to β€œdo it herself”.

She gave me another chance because I was good with hair - a talent I learnt from being brought up in a family of hairdressers.

The second opportunity ended after I waxed a ladies eyebrow off. Entirely.

❌ An example of Talent before Attitude.

At 18, my first real full time job with a well known International College, had me thrown in the deep end again making plunger coffee for a boardroom of VIP’s and our very own Celebrity boss.

I was too scared to ask, so I heaped 4 table spoons of International Roast into the pot with boiling water, plunged it down and hoped for the best.

The look on my bosses face as she gulped her tary black instant coffee had me wanting to run for the hills.

She gave me a waiver for showing initiative, gave me quick lesson and apologized for assuming I should know.

βœ… An example of Attitude before Talent.

At 19, I landed a great role as a PA to an award winning architect not having a clue how to do the job.

He was a messy creative, chaotic introverted mastermind, drowning in drawings and ideas and no idea how to even invoice for his work.

Neither did I.

But my pretty colorful resume resonated with him enough to give me a go.

I learnt to dot his i’s and cross his t’s, and threw myself into an after hours Business course, to learn what I had to do, in order to manage his business.

I helped him get organised so he could expand on his projects and become one of the most sort after professionals in his field.

βœ… An example of Attitude before Talent.

At 21, I applied for a sales position with the biggest beverage company in the world.

I had no experience.
I didn’t fit the profile.
I was the youngest candidate.
…But I showed initiative in my interview.

I went on to achieve bonuses larger than I ever imagined possible and later became pretty good at selling ice to eskimos.

βœ… An example of Attitude before Talent.

At 30 I started my own Wedding and Events company.

I knew nothing about the industry.

I didn’t even know how to put a chair cover on a chair, what an oriental Lilly was or the difference between a run sheet or an order of service.

I just loved weddings, and pretty things, and making people happy.

βœ… An example of Attitude before Talent.

I carried this philosophy through my business growth stage, to hiring over 200 staff in 11 years, over various positions.

I had professional Merchandisers, Degree qualified Event Managers, and years of experienced Function coordinators apply for positions within my company.

Our hugely successful staff retention rates, came down to recruiting Attitude before Talent.

My business was never going to be successful without my teams right Attitude.

❌ Attitude is a skill that CAN NOT be taught.

βœ… Talent is a skill that CAN be taught.

This is a common conversation I have with my clients around staff retention and onboard training.

☝️To acquire and retain Talented staff, always starts with Attitude first.

✌️The skills analysis and the right training follows second.

Making the adjustment to recruiting β€˜Attitude first’, can take a perspective shift, and a mindset change, often requiring the guidance of a professional Business Consultant specialising in Employment Culture.

This is who I am.
Reach out to ask me how.

You are the books you read, the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet, the dreams you have, the conversations you engage in.

You are what you take from these. You are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner.

You are a collective of every experience you have had in your life. You are every single day.

So drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence. Let the words run through your veins and let the colours fill your mind...

While all social networks are rambling with hate and negativity, I want to dilute it with some good news and facts. The world is not so bad, look around:

The Norwegians decided not to drill oil wells in the Lofoten Islands (with oil reserves of $53,000,000,000) to preserve the islands ecosystem.

β€œIf you have trouble structuring your business, if you go through rounds of hiring and firing, read this:

If you have trouble finding the β€œright” team members…the problem may be you. This may be tough to accept but I know good leaders can handle the truth.

I’m not trying to be impractical, but as I said before, good leaders don’t cast judgment on their employees.

Good leaders don’t yell and scream or try to watch their employees’ every move. Good leaders are supportive and ask how they can help.

Instead of being upset that their employees are drowning, they teach them how to swim” ~ Gary Vee
