The Boarding Office

The Boarding Office We are a co-shared office space with individual rooms to lease boasting a large common area that has an alter ego as a Surf Museum. We can help!

Looking for an office space on the Sunshine Coast? We have 4 locations, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Noosa and Nambour, where offices can be rented, short or long term. Or just come visit us for a great coffee and to see some Surfing history, our beach culture! We are a co-shared office space with individual rooms to lease surrounding large common areas which are designed and furnished to encourage cas

ual interaction among the businesses through a more relaxed Sunshine Coast way of doing business. Our décor is functional art, hand made, hand painted, primarily vintage Surfboards and so our alto ego is as a Surf Museum. Throw in an Espresso Café for the essentials and that's about us!

BOARD OF THE WEEK

FLUID FOILS CHANNEL BOTTOM

This neat little Fluid Foils channel bottom came to us as part of the Quiksilver/Boardriders stash. These boards were among the first (modern) channel bottoms produced with soft undulating lines. The organic sculptural shapes of this board pretty much speak for themself. Jim Pollard shaped fluid foils and gained some recognition when Newcastles Col Smith rode them to some success, particularly in Hawaii. Phil Myers and Al Byrne both developed reputations for shaping multi hull designs. There would be several generations of channel bottomed surfboards over the following years, with some shapers sticking steadfastly to the design while others would sometimes revisit and reinvent multi phased bottom designs. Of course in the mid 80's belly channels were all the rage before Occy, Curren and others got people fired up about clinker bottoms. Biggest channels I ever saw were carved out of foam by Man Mountain Mike Croteau, deep, hard edged, like strapping a turbo on your board, but that my friends is another story . . .
