Thank you, Northern Territory; it was amazing!
Sometimes life gives you moments that make you stop and appreciate just how lucky you are.
Last week, I flew to Alice Springs to meet up with my daughter Karina after she completed the entire Larapinta Trail solo.
Twelve days. Alone. Carrying everything she needed and walking through some of Australia's most rugged and beautiful country.
As a mum, there were moments leading up to that trip where I worried. I followed her progress, checked in when I could, and hoped she was safe. But mostly, I was incredibly proud of the woman she has become.
When I finally saw her at the end of the trail, tired, dusty and smiling, my heart was full.
We then spent the next few days together exploring Kings Canyon and Uluru. We hiked, laughed, talked, drove through some of the most incredible landscapes Australia has to offer, and simply enjoyed being together.
One of my favourite memories was surprising her with a helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta to celebrate what she had achieved. It wasn't just the breathtaking views that made it special; it was sharing that experience together and creating a memory we'll both carry with us for years to come.
We also shared a magical dinner under the stars at Uluru. Well... under the stars and clouds! 😂 But somehow that made it even more memorable.
What struck me most wasn't the helicopter, the scenery or the adventure itself.
It was the gift of time.
Time to talk.
Time to laugh.
Time to reconnect.
Time to create memories that will stay with us forever.
In the work I do, I meet so many people who are successful on paper, but life has become one long list of responsibilities, deadlines and things that need to get done.
This trip reminded me that while achievement is important, so is making space for the people we love.
Because the moments that fill our hearts are often the simplest ones. Sitting together after a long day. Sharing a meal. Watching a sunset. Listening to each other's stories.
I'm so proud of Rina and everything she accomplished on that trail.
But I'm equally grateful for the precious days we got to spend together afterwards.
Those are the moments that make life rich.
