A big thank you to Roma Commerce and Tourism Inc., who organised the last of our Enhance HR workshops last Monday.

We had a great day at the Big Rig and were welcomed by Greg Lawrence from Maranoa Regional Council. It was great to see thriving businesses in the workshop group all sharing their experiences and some tips and tricks throughout the day.

Thank you to Western Queensland Spirit, Signasaurus and Gardiner Smash Repairs for attending the workshops, we look forward to seeing you again when we’re next in Roma.

Thank you to Sarah and Luke Heathwood for having me today and for sharing with me the story of Montana Welding.

I was so surprised to learn that this team are a completely mobile business that can do a repair or service from start to finish, including all the repair work, welding, sandblasting on-site and spray painting. Montana Welding is really well-known for their quality and for getting that beautiful, pearly finish on their paintwork. It’s also great to hear you’re bringing your welding skills to the public with DIY workshops for people who just want to learn a little bit more about welding and build some incredible garden ornaments.

In the 2024-2025 financial year, the CLAAS Harvest Centre Dalby was the most successful branch across all of Australia and New Zealand. In addition to this, it also had the highest levels of employee engagement through their annual employee survey. Congratulations to the CLAAS Harvest Centre Dalby team - sales and service - on such a successful year!

Busy Bee Auto Repairs have been operating in Dalby for 10 years, but have 20 years of vehicle repair and maintenance experience. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Tracey loves bees, and she’s known for her “Crazy Tracey Fridays”, where she dresses up in her bee costumes – super fun!

This team are also known in the community for their ongoing fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation, Canteen and epilepsy awareness.

Prue, The Beauty Witch, is trained in professional makeup, beauty therapy, nails, teeth gems and teeth whitening, and offers an extensive range of services to her clients. I was so impressed to learn that Prue is booked out months in advance, which is a testament to her incredible skills.

Prue’s own skin journey includes experiencing skin allergies, which makes her incredibly focused on ensuring that only the highest quality products are stocked and used in her salon. I also learnt that you could get lash and brow dyes that last 7 weeks – that is so impressive and is exactly why Prue has chosen to use these in her services at The Beauty Witch.

1.5 million donuts – that is the number that the man himself, Colin Waters, also known as the Dalby Donut Man, estimates he has made since 1986.

People come from far and wide to enjoy the Dalby Donut Man’s treats. Over the last 12 months he’s perfected the art of donut making by trialling different temperatures for his cooking to deal with different temperatures and weather conditions. After 39 years of donut making, Colin’s still passionate and still exploring new ways to delight customers.

It was such a pleasure to meet Stephanie Dylan and her first horse, Pumba, to learn more about K Bun Carriages.

K Bun Carriages was first registered 15 years ago and has been servicing Dalby’s tourism sector since 2016. Stephanie hand-drew her logo and had it digitally designed into what we see today, which I think is a great example of how Stephanie is in her business, as she personally selects, learns and perfects the skills needed to bring a little bit of history and yesteryear to everyone who rides in a K Bun Carriage.

Yesterday I visited Dalby’s only day spa, New Beginnings, with sole trader Joan. This space was so relaxing, beautiful and well equipped for you to completely chill out.

Joan is such a multi-skilled professional, from beauty to a range of healing modalities and massage. Joan has set out to create a beautiful experience, and she has definitely achieved this!
I’m very excited to hear about the trialling of a glamping weekend at New Beginnings – I look forward to this new service becoming available in the coming months.
