We’ve been fortunate to work closely with Kingscliff’s most prolific developer in delivering a growing collection of luxury apartment developments — with five completed, one under construction, and another commencing later this year.

What do all these projects have in common?
I acted as the Developer’s “concierge” Architect, overseeing and managing the design process on their behalf.
This involved guiding and coordinating the Principal Architects to ensure the Client’s vision and development objectives were successfully realised.
It’s a design management role shaped by more than 40 years of successful architectural practice and project delivery experience.

The first project I designed after moving to the Gold Coast was this resort-style residential development at Buchan Point, just north of Palm Cove in FNQ.
Drawing inspiration from both Balinese influences and Australian vernacular architecture, the design evolved into a style I termed Australinese — blending tropical resort living with a distinctly local response to climate and place.
Named Munbilla, derived from the Indigenous term meaning much water, the project was fittingly positioned on a prominent headland site overlooking the ocean and Double Island.

Twenty-five years later, design trends have come full circle, with mid-century modern style once again in the spotlight.
