Spectrum Analysis Australia

Spectrum Analysis Australia Spectrum Analysis Australia is a geodemographic and mapping company. Spectrum is regarded as one of the most specialist companies of its type in Australasia.

We help companies make decisions in Site Selection, Market Analysis and Territory Planning using demographics and statistics. Spectrum Analysis Australia Pty Ltd was incorporated in 1996 following its beginnings as a partnership in 1994. Spectrum Analysis gathers, analyses and presents general and geo-demographic information. This information is used to assist senior management in the planning and

implementation of more effective location and distribution strategies. Spectrum’s core business is best described as
- Gathering and presenting general and geographic information using mapping and GIS systems; and
- Statistical analysis and predictive modelling for the purposes of understanding the drivers of demand; using this knowledge to create optimum location and distribution strategies. In the last 10 years, Spectrum Analysis has consulted to some of the most prominent organisations in Australia. The majority of these clients are regular users, having used the services of Spectrum Analysis on numerous occasions. These include:
- Telstra
- Tattersall’s
- Commonwealth Bank Mobile Lending
- Caltex
- Nandos
- Optus
- Tabcorp
- Aussie Home Lending
- RAMS
- MFB and Department of Justice (Vic)

While a significant proportion of our work has historically been for retail and service based companies, the basic principles of understanding and modelling geographic demand vs. supply remain the same across different industries. Spectrum’s unique modelling and analysis processes have been adopted successfully into many non-retail industries including gaming, banking, telecommunications and transport.

SAILING WIN // ⛵Peter Buckingham from Spectrum Analysis Australia Pty Ltd has been sailing as crew on the Couta Boat ‘Zephyr’ for many years – owned by Richard Martin (Club Captain of SSCBC), Kim and Michael Paynter.

This year, the boat was awarded the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club Division 1 Handicap Aggregate Champion for 2026!

The boat Zephyr has won a total of five times in 2013, 2016, 2019, 2025 and 2026.

The winning crew for 2026 was liz keep, Michael Paynter, Richard Martin (Skipper), Peter Buckingham, Kim Paynter and David Briggs.

Sailing Couta Boats is like driving a classic car. No power winches, no electric motors, just a pulley system on the sheets (ropes to pull in the sails) and a lot of sweat and hard work.

A boat like Zephyr weighs around 5 tons and has around 2 – 3 tonnes of lead in her keel to keep her upright. In most races we have a crew of 5 – 7 people.

Couta boats were around in the mid 1800’s and used to go fishing for barracouta fish, and then race back to the markets to sell the fish – the quicker you arrived, the higher the price you received for your fish.

The Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club (SSCBC) is the largest club (by membership) on Port Phillip Bay.

Each year the summer racing season concludes in May, and the results of the Division 1 Handicap Aggregate event is decided.

This year Zephyr was the winner and actually went “Back-to-Back” in defending their title from last year (2025).
