Rob Van den Eynde from Camperdown Football Netball Club and I caught up with Anna Malcolm for Polwarth - One Nation with Laurie Hickey for Corangamite Shire - Central Ward and Cr Ruth Gstrein at the Leura Oval - The Next Chapter this morning in Camperdown.

It was great to go over the club’s plans for the next chapter in its development.

Over the last 20 years the club has worked with council and government to bring these facilities into the 21st Century one piece at a time, often funding elements with club funds and debt. The current project consists of two elements, an upgrade to the change rooms to provide a modern and female friendly environment as well as an upgrade to the netball precinct to provide change rooms and shelter for players and spectators.

The club does a great job of managing these projects and the general operations of such a critical community organisation. However, capital projects on government facilities need government investment.

As you can see, the prison showers have to go if we are to keep up with the demands of a modern sporting community.

Hutch Hussein - Labor for Polwarth joined us with Rob Van den Eynde from Camperdown Football Netball Club and Laurie Hickey for Corangamite Shire - Central Ward and Cr Ruth Gstrein at the Leura Oval - The Next Chapter Camperdown today. The club has developed plans for its next chapter in upgrading the facilities at Leura Oval and it was great to share the club’s vision.

It was great to see that Hutch understood how important these developments are right from the start.

Thank you to Kellie Sheppard for Benambra - One Nation and Craig for meeting with us and Kath and Jarrod from Tallangatta & District Football League and Tallangatta & District Netball Association. The Sandy Creek Rec Reserve, otherwise known as “The MCG of the Bush” needs a new pavilion. The current facilities are years past their “use by date” and now reaching their termination date. This region has suffered from decades of underinvestment by successive governments and the community is missing out. If this sports ground was in Melbourne, it wouldn’t even be a question. The Sandy Creek Recreation Reserve community needs a hero to champion this cause and see that this community gets the support that it deserves.

🏏 The Club Builder Grant Professionals team attended the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association’s 2026/27 Season Launch.
It was a great opportunity to celebrate the beginning of another cricket season, reconnect with current clients and meet representatives from clubs, councils and organisations supporting community sport.
We were also pleased to catch up with Cr Prue Cutts, who has been a valuable community connection and has helped us better understand local priorities and funding needs.
Community projects rarely happen through the work of one organisation alone. They rely on local knowledge, strong relationships and people who are willing to work together.
Thank you to the BHRDCA for bringing the community together and hosting such an enjoyable evening. We wish every club a successful season ahead!
